Adjectives go before or after nouns.
Before
He is a tall boy.
The black cat is old.

Adjectives Reading
Circle the adjectives in this reading.
Yesterday I went to a new museum. I like to look at the
beautiful art. I looked in a big room that had large statues.
Many of the statues were very tall.
The next room I visited had many old paintings. The paintings
were painted by famous artists. The paintings were incredible.
After the museum I went for a walk on the street. It was
lunchtime so the street was busy. The traffic was loud and
people walked everywhere. The street was tiny and there were
big trucks and vans.
I decided to have lunch because I was hungry. The restaurant I
went to was beautiful, and the food smelled delicious. I ate
pasta with white sauce. For dessert I had pie with ice cream.
The food was wonderful, and it was a great day.

Superlative Adjectives
Superlative adjectives compare more than two things.
Superlative adjectives compare a group of things. They show
one item is different than the other items in the group.
Here is an example:
Kevin is the oldest person in the park.
Three people are in the park. Tom is 20. Susan is 25. Kevin is
30. Therefore, Kevin is the oldest person in the park. This is
similar to saying Kevin is older than Tom and older than Susan.

Absolute Adjectives
Absolute adjectives cant be used as comparatives or
superlatives. The adjective itself is the final description of the
noun. It cant change. Take a look at this example:
My ball is redder than your ball.
Red is a colour, so something cant be more or less red. It can
only be red. Think about another example:
Square
Straight
True
Unanimous
Unique
Vacant
Round
Green, Yellow, etc.

Present participle adjectives (boring) are used for qualities.
The movie is boring.

Final Exam
Find the 5 comparative adjectives mistakes in the paragraph.
Yesterday my brother and I went to see a football game. We
watched our two favourite teams, the Eagles and the Hawks. It
was the second week of the season and the day was more
colder than the week before.
My brother and I like different teams. He thinks the Eagles are
faster, stronger, and more smart than the Hawks. I never agree.
On this day, he was wrong. The Hawks played a lot better than
the Eagles. They looked more stronger than the horrible Eagles.
The food and the drinks were expensiver than other places, and
tasted much worse. I was surprised that a hotdog and a drink
cost $7. Also, the hotdog was more small than normal hotdogs.
So I was a little sad about my meal, and hoped to get something
tastier after the game. But I was happy because the Hawks
beat the Eagles by 15 points.
