FOREWORD
This technical manual covers the Saturn 20 Gas Turbine-Driven Generator Set designed and manufactured
by Solar Turbines Incorporated in San Diego, California. Procured under Solar Project Definition No. 5781 by
Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., LTD for Conoco Indonesia, Inc, this equipment is designated for the West
Natuna Platform, Indonesia installation site.

TECHNICAL MANUAL OVERVIEW
The technical manual is provided in a four-volume set. All part numbers referred to within the manual set
are Solar part numbers unless otherwise specified. Each volume of the set stands alone and is described in
the following paragraphs.
Volume I - Systems Operator's Guide
Volume I was prepared specifically for the equipment operator. Step-by-step procedures for starting,
stopping, and operating the equipment are provided. Safety precautions are included to aid in the safe
operation of the equipment. Functions and locations of various controls and indicators are described and
illustrated in detail. Component nomenclature, alphanumeric characters in parentheses in the text, for
example (S388), corresponds to the reference designator identification used in schematics and drawings.
Volume II - Installation and Maintenance Instructions
Volume II is an in-depth equipment presentation for maintenance and field service personnel. Information
pertaining to site preparation, configuration, and package installation is provided along with required
alignment and checkout procedures. Detailed descriptions have been included for various systems and
components. Component nomenclature, alphanumeric characters in parentheses in the text, for example
(S388), corresponds to the reference designator identification used in schematics and drawings. Corrective
maintenance for specific items is also included. A maintenance schedule is provided in the Introduction of
this volume to assist the user in preparing a maintenance plan.
Volume III - Supplementary Data
Volume III contains supplementary or vendor information, which covers vendor-supplied components and
assemblies not covered or fully discussed in Volume II, Installation and Maintenance Instructions. Data in
this volume is arranged and tabbed alphabetically by manufacturer, as listed on the Supplementary Data

sheet furnished in the front of this volume. The data contained in this volume is intended for use by Solar
field service technicians only.
Volume IV - Illustrated Parts List
Volume IV contains lists of part numbers, part names, quantities required, reference designators, and
engineering style line drawings to locate parts used in the turbine package. Various indexes are provided to
aid the user in locating piece parts within the package.
INTRODUCTION
This volume of the technical manual set lists, describes, and illustrates parts used in turbine package
assemblies, and is intended for use by maintenance personnel to identify and order replacement parts. For
applicable part disassembly and assembly instructions, refer to Volume II, Installation and Maintenance
Instructions, or manufacturers' data provided in Volume III, Supplementary Data, of this manual set.
NOTE
The data presented in this manual is based on information available at the time turbine packages
are ready for shipment.
Solar reserves the right to change, delete, and supersede part numbers as necessary. When ordering parts,
include the assembly and serial numbers of the turbine package assembly which are found on the turbine
package assembly nameplate.
The parts list sections list assembly parts, grouped by main system assemblies and associated
subassemblies. The parts are illustrated in figures to show location on the turbine package assembly. Parts
added by kits, or special customer-specified equipment, are included in the parts list of the assembly where
such parts are installed. Brackets, tubes, conduit, and fittings associated with tubes and conduit are omitted
because they are typically fabricated in the field or are commercially available.
GENERAL INFORMATION
FIGURE & INDEX NO.
The figure number refers to the figure illustrating the part. The index number corresponds to the
number locating the part in the illustration. A dash (-) in this column indicates that the part is not
illustrated. If more than one part is identified with the same index number, those parts are located at
the same referenced location.
PART NO. (Part Number)
The part number identifies the part by Solar part number.
DESCRIPTION
The description identifies the part by part name or by procurement description. Subassembly part
descriptions are indented one column to the right and follow next higher assembly description.
Subassemblies may be referenced to another figure by the parenthetical note (SEE FIG).
NOTE
All dimensions are shown in inches unless otherwise indicated.
QTY (Quantity)
Quantity refers to the number of parts required to complete the part's next higher assembly, at the
index number location in the figure. "REF" in the QTY column indicates that the actual quantity of the
item is referenced elsewhere in the manual. "AR" in the QTY column indicates the quantity to be "as
required" and not suitable to count or dimension.
REF DESIG (Reference Designator)
Reference designators identify functional components illustrated in the figures. Reference designators
are the alphanumeric designators used on electrical or hydromechanical system drawings, such as
PI931, M200, or S112.
SERVICE PARTS LIST
This index lists procurable and service parts, including Level 1 and 2 tools, in numeric order.
NOTE
Level 1 tooling (for use with maintenance and test equipment) is recommended for scheduled
maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor parts replacement. Level 2 tooling (special tools) is an
intermediate level of field tooling which expands maintenance capabilities to areas which may
require specialized training.
ASSEMBLY QUANTITY
Assembly quantity refers to the number of parts required per assembly. Where a quantity of AR
appears, this is an indication that the item was not suitable to count or quantity.
TOTAL PROJECT QUANTITY
Total project quantity indicates the number of parts installed per turbine package project, excluding
field tooling, where only one of each type of tooling is required per turbine package project.
SERVICE SUPPORT QUANTITY
Service support quantity refers to the recommended quantity to stock for maximum support.
SOLAR STOCK ITEM
An "S" in this column indicates that the part was a planned stock item by Solar at the time of
turbomachinery shipment and is normally available for immediate shipment to our customers. An "N"
indicates that the part was not a stock item nor planned to be stocked at the time the turbomachinery
shipped and in most cases is available at full manufacturing lead time. Updated stocking information
may be obtained from your local Solar Sales Representative or the Customer Support Center in San
Diego.

RETURNING PARTS
Repair or Replacement Parts
The applicable Solar Parts Sales Center must authorize the return of parts for repair or replacement. At the
time of authorization, Parts Sales Center personnel will advise procedure for returning parts for repair or
replacement.
Warranty Parts
The applicable Solar Parts Sales Center must authorize the return of parts under warranty. Parts being
returned under warranty must be accompanied by a Warranty Claim form and a Return Material
Authorization form. At the time of authorization, Parts Sales Center personnel will advise procedure for
obtaining forms and returning parts under warranty.
Return of Unused Parts
The applicable Solar Parts Sales Center must authorize the return of unused parts for credit. Parts being
returned for credit must be accompanied by a Return Material Authorization form. At the time of
authorization, Parts Sales Center personnel will advise procedure for obtaining form and returning unused
parts for credit.
