The document discusses various planetary combinations and their effects related to the 12th house of expenses and losses. Key sources of loss mentioned include the king, spouse, business partnerships, and expenditures on immoral activities. Favorable planets in the 12th house are said to result in righteous spending while unfavorable planets indicate spending on vices.

Some sources of loss mentioned are the king (Sun in 12th house), spouse or relationships (7th lord involved with 12th lord), and business partnerships (7th lord involved with 12th lord). Other indications depend on the natural and functional significations of planets placed in or aspecting the 12th house.

The combination of Mars placed in the 12th house aspected by Mercury is said to cause losses through several ways including court cases and litigations. Mercury aspecting the Moon in the 2nd house is also mentioned as destroying all wealth, including ancestral property.

Bhava Phala Praveshika14:

Vyaya Bhava (12th House)

Cause of Loss of Wealth
Saravali 34.6970. (1) If the Sun, or weak Moon is placed in the 12th, the natives wealth will
be lost to the king. (2) Mars posited in the 12th in aspect to Mercury, will cause losses in several
ways Jupiter, the Moon (with increasing rays) and Venus in the 12th will cause growth of wealth,
provided there is no aspect from Mars on them. (3) Rest may be understood from the previous
portion (Ch. 30).

This verse serves as an illustration regarding the sources of losses as seen from the 12H
of Vyaya Bhava (losses/ expenditure).

The sources can be seen from the natural as well as functional significations of the
Grahas influencing the 12H. For instance Sun represent King or the father, Moon
represent the queen (bureaucracy in current world) or the Mother. Similarly, the natural
significations need to be understood for other Grahas.

The sources of losses can be seen from one of the following-

1. Bhava owned by Grahas placed in the 12H

2. Bhava where 12L is placed
3. Bhava aspected by the 12H
4. Bhava owned by Grahas conjoined the 12L
5. Bhava owned by Grahas aspecting the 12H
6. The natural significations of the Grahas involved with the 12H or the 12L by placement,
conjunction, aspect

Strong Grahas (exaltation, own sign, friendly sign etc.) in the 12H indicate expenditure
out of own volition where weaknesses (debility, enemy sign etc.) indicate compulsion to
spend.

Benefic in the 12H indicate expenditure on righteous things while malefics in the 12H
indicate expenditure on vicious activities.

Mars-Mercury duo is not good in the matters of finances as could be seen in the matters
of 2H, similarly Moon-Mercury combination is also not good.

Mars is not conducive to finances and cause destruction of wealth as Mars causes debility
of Moon, the karaka for sustenance.

When Mars is placed in the 12H can cause forceful expenditure as that is the nature of
Mars. The trouble is aggravated if Mercury aspects (or conjoins Mars). The combined
influence of Mars and Mercury usually indicate court cases and litigations.

Placement of benefics Jupiter, Moon (with strong paksha-bala) or Venus in the 12H will
protect loss of wealth and thus keep the savings intact. This is specifically true if Mars
does not cause losses due to its aspects.

Influence of Mercury and Moon

Saravali 34.71. Even a person born in regal scion will become an artisan, if the Ascendant in
Mercurys decanate receives the aspect of the Moon from an Angle.

Mercury and Moon enjoy a love hate relationship. Mercury being the bastard child of
Moon, hates Moon. While Moon being the father of Mercury, loves Mercury.

So whenever, the Mercury-Moon come together there is fight. Especially in the matters of
wealth, the combination is not conducive.

Note the following verses regarding the 2H. Saravali 34.1520: Mercury so posited in the
2nd House in aspect to the Moon, the entire wealth earned by the native will be deprived.
Weak Moon in the 2nd House in Mercurys aspect denotes, that even the ancestral
property will be destroyed; not only this, other sources of income will also be hindered.

Thus whoever Mercury is connected to the Lagna, being the sign lord, or placed in the
Lagna or conjoined the Lagna Lord and at the same time Moon aspects such Lagna, the
native loses everything attained from the lineage as legacy or paternal properties.

The same can be expected if Mercury is connected to the Navamsa Lagna or the
Drekkana lagna and aspected by the Moon in the Navamsa or Drekkana respectively. The
occurrence of the combination in Navamsa or Drekkana make combination and its effect
very intense.

The same can be expected if weak Moon is connected with the Lagna (or Lagnesha) and
aspected by Mercury.

Mother becoming Slave

Saravali 34.72. Should Venus be in the 12th House in Virgo identical with Saturns Nava,
while the Luminaries are in the 7th in aspect to Saturn, the natives mother though belonging to a
noble race will become a slave.

This is a unique combination not having much value of generalisation, because the
incidence of slavery is almost eradicated. Hence, it is not possible to come across
someone who is affected by this combination.

Just as an academic exercise, lets see the reason behind the combination. This only
applies for Libra Lagna as only then Venus gets debilitated in the 12H. Venus should also
be placed in 1st or 2nd Navamsa of Virgo for Venus to be placed in Capricorn or
Aquarius in Navamsa.

In this case Venus should be placed in the 3rd of 4th pada of Suns nakshatra
Uttaraphlaguni.

Luminaries in the 7H in Aries indicate affliction to mother due to Amavasya Tithi and
affliction by fiery element.

Saturn could be aspecting the 7H from Lagna (exalted), 5H (Aquarius), 10H (Leo). In my
humble opinion, exalted yogakaraka aspecting the Moon from Lagna will not cause the
trouble. Only Saturn aspecting the Moon from 10H from an enemy sign could cause this
and the Saturn in this case would also aspect Venus in the 12H.

Distressed Native
Saravali 34.73. Should Saturn occupy the 2nd House counted from the Sun, while the Moon and
Mars, respectively, are in the 10th cusp and 7th House with reference to the Ascendant, the
native will always be distressed.

Saturn conjoined the Sun, placed in the 12H or 2H from the Sun are not conducive for the
native as this indicate serious struggles in the persons life as well as fathers life. The
same problem happens when Saturn and Sun are placed in the 7th from each other.

In this specific illustration of mental distress, Saturn placed in the 2H from Sun indicate
many challenges in life (one after another). At the same time when Mars is placed in the
7H (in marana-karaka-sthana) and Moon in the 10H aspected by the Mars, the mind is
agitated.

Moon is best placed in the 4H where it attains dikbala, giving comforts and contentment.
Its placement in the 10H which is opposite to the Dikbala bhava, it cause the mind to
become stressed due to heavy influence of fire and air element. In Naisargika Kundali
10H is ruled by Saturn (Air) and Mars (Fire) attains exaltation. Fiery planets Mars, Sun
and Ketu attain Dikbala in the 10H giving action, however, it is not a good bhava for
watery planets Moon or Venus ruling comfort and luxuries.

In this particular case Mars afflicts the Moon in the 10H and the Lagna by its aspect
giving an agitated mind. This coupled with the troubles in life due to Saturns position in
the 2H from Sun.

According to the author (Saravali 34.17), Marss aspect on the lagna cause one fond of
valorous acts and battles, irascible and have severed relationship. So, overall, such native
have to live a life full of challenges and full of stress.

Sources of Losses
Phaladeepika 16.30. Note the following two Bhavas: (1) the Bhava owned by the planet
occupying the 12th house, (2) the Bhava occupied by the lord of the 12th. The loss of things
connected by these two Bhavas should be predicted.

Like the sources of Gains, the sources of Losses can be read from the Rasi, Graha or
Bhava influencing the 12H.

Note the following regarding the sources of Losses-

1. Planets placed in the 12H. The bhava owned and the natural signification of the Graha
can indicate Losses from their sources.
2. Bhava occupied by the 12L. The significations of the bhava can indicate the sources of
Losses.
3. Planets conjoined with the 12L. The functional and natural signification of the Graha can
indicate Losses from their sources.
4. Bhava or Graha aspected by the 12L. The functional and natural significations of the
Graha indicate the sources of Losses.

Like what is mentioned for 11H, among multiple significations only some of them are
active in the matters of losses at any point in life. During different stages in life and under
different dasa some of the sources become more predominant in the matters of losses.

Additionally natural benefics placed in the 12H indicate expenditure on righteous means.
Similarly malefics so placed indicate losses pertaining on sinful activities.

Strong planets in the 12H indicate that the native is spending on his own volition while
weak and debilitated Graha in the 12H indicate that the native is forces to send or incur
losses.

Benefics and strong planets in the 12H also protect the native from losing the wealth.

Some important yogas from Dr. BV Ramans Hindu Predictive Astrology

Natives money and influence wasted through the agency of his wife: If the 12th lord is
aspected by 7th lord and these two are powerful.

The impetus of all expenditure and losses in life come from the 12H

The natural as well as functional signification of Graha placed in the 12H or aspecting the
12H indicate the sources of loss

Hence, when the 7L is involved with the 12L, the native loses wealth on account of
spouse or relationships. This can also indicate losses through business partnership as
well. One should eliminate some of the factors over others depending of other influences.

Wealth spent on immoral purposes: 12th house occupied by a malefic and its lord is an evil
planet.

Expenditure on good things or vices can be seen from the nature of the Grahas occupying
the 12H.

Benefic sign or Graha indicate expenditure on good things while malefic sign or graha
indicate expenditure on vices.

Deformed limbs: If the powerless lord of the 12th occupies unfavourable positions in the
Navamsa.

12H rules the feet, however it is not clear why this combination will give deformed limbs

Person dies in divine contemplation: If the 12th lord is Jupiter and has no malefic influences or
aspects.

The final moment of death can be seen from the 12H. This also determines the
destination after death and the circumstances of next birth as per Bhagavad Gita. Hence,
it is important to have benefic Grahas in the 12H.

There is another saying, the destination can be known from where one spends the wealth.
Expenditure on righteous activities take one to a good destination and vice-versa.

Death due to piles and other blood disorders: If the 12th lord is Mars and Saturn occupies the
12th house.

To be verified

Usually piles is seen from affliction to the 8H.

Wealth spent on useless litigations: If the 12th lord is weak and is aspected by the 6th lord.

6L cause litigations. When 6L is placed in the 12H, the person spends on litigation.

This is also possible when 6L is placed in the 6H and it aspects the 12H or 6L is
conjoined the 12L in a place, say a Kendra.

In the Kendra, the affliction by 6L and 12L can cripple the native due to heavy
expenditure on litigations. This is especially true if they are weak and / or are afflicted by
Saturn, Mars, Rahu or Ketu.

Native be a simpleton: If the Sun and the Moon are in the 12th house without any favorable
aspects.

To be verified.

Person has close relations surrounding him at the time of death: If benefics occupy the 12th
or its lord joins them.

Benefic influences on the 12H or 12L indicate the final moment of death. If benefic
influences them, it can indicate that the native died in a comfortable location where he or
she was surrounded by near and dear ones.
