Manual For Input Collection Macro - v2

This document provides instructions for using a macro to submit remaining capacity values to Coreso for regional capacity calculations. It describes the 5 steps to use the macro: 1) select the first business date, 2) select the transmitting system operator, 3) enter the remaining capacity values, 4) select the output file folder, and 5) create the output file. It also provides details on how to send the output file via email and describes solutions for common macro errors. An annex defines key terms like remaining capacity and normal/severe conditions used in the regional capacity calculations.

1. Purpose: How to send the remaining capacities to the

RSCIs
Step 0: Save the macro locally on the computer
Open the macro and you should see the following view:

In the macro you opened, you will see 5 steps which have to be followed. (Step 1
to 5)
However, before starting it is advised to select your TSO and to save the file. By
doing this we dont have to change every time the TSO.

Step 1: Select the first business date:

This is the date of the first business date (BD). The values which will be sent will
automatically be from BD to D+6.

Page

Step 2: Select the TSO.

Normally if Step 0 is done, the TSO should not change. If it is not set at your TSO,
just select it again.

Step 3: Enter the Remaining capacities:

This button opens a screen which explains graphically how the remaining
capacity is build. In this input file we only give the values of the remaining
capacities and not the steps in between to create it. Please pay attention that the
term severe condition doesnt have to be taken into account. We rely here on the
best estimate of the TSOs. If one value is sent for the whole day please send the
most severe one (worst case = peak?).

When clicking on the button Enter the Remaining Capacities a new display
should be opened.

Page

Here we can enter the values for the remaining capacity for every hour and for
every day. If we have only one value we can enter one value in the first cell and
then click on the arrow
to copy it for the remaining hours. We can also add
another value on the hour 07:30 and then copy it to the remaining hours if we
want to give two values: for peak and off-peak. If more precision can be given,
each hourly value can be modified independently.
: This button is to empty all cells with one click.
: When all the cells are filled click on the ok button.
Normally the light should change from red to green.

Step 4: Select the folder where the created input file will be placed.

You can select the correct folder via the button Change Folder. You can also
copy the destination and paste it in the textbox. Please check that the text
doesnt end with \.

Page

Step 5: Create the input file.

Click on the button Create Input File.

When the step 3 is correctly filled in and when a valid directory was selected in
step 4, a file will be created in the chosen directory and the light will be set to
green.

Final Step:
Send the created text file to the Coreso mailbox.
- by email to Day-ahead.engineer@coreso.eu and smta@tscnet.eu
- in the subject : [SMTA] Inputs data from XX (name of the TSO)

2. How to send values by using the sheet Hour_values

This is the date of the first business date (BD) when the values for RC should be
entered. The values which will be sent will automatically be from BD to D+6.

Step 2: Select the TSO.

Normally if Step 0 is done, the TSO should not change. If it is not set at your TSO,
just select it again.

Step 3: Go to your data and copy the values.

Then go to the sheet Hour values and select cell A1 and paste your data.

Then click on the button Enter the Remaining capacities:

: Click on this button to read the values you pasted in the

Hour_values sheet. Values can be modified manually if needed.
: This button is to empty all cells with one click.
: When all the cells are filled click on the ok button.
Normally the light should change from red to green. It will stay red if one of the
cells is empty (= perhaps something went wrong with the copy paste).

3. Automatic sending of the files:

If you want to create the .txt file with another tool or create it directly as an
output from another tool, follow the next instructions. The text put between in
brackets is to be used as written.

The title of the file is created as next:

Adequacy_input_file_ + 2 letters of TSO + _ + Date in format
JJJJMMDD

The first line is created as:

Remaining Capacity for date: + DATE + 10 SPACES+ for the TSO=
+ 5 SPACES+ FR: RTE
The last term FR: RTE copy from select TSO in the macro for your TSO.

The second and third line are empty

The fifth line is created as:
Remaining Capacity + 7 SPACES + Date_DAY1 + 5 SPACES +
Date_DAY2 +5 SPACES + Date_DAY3 +5 SPACES + Date_DAY4 +5
SPACES + Date_DAY5 +5 SPACES + Date_DAY6 +5 SPACES +
Date_DAY7

The remaining lines are created as next:

Hour+ 2 SPACES + HH:MM + 14 SPACES + value RC D1 and
SPACES until we have 10 characters +5 SPACES + value RC D2 and
SPACES until we have 10 characters +5 SPACES + value RC D3 and
SPACES until we have 10 characters +5 SPACES + value RC D4 and
SPACES until we have 10 characters +5 SPACES + value RC D5 and
SPACES until we have 10 characters +5 SPACES + value RC D6 and
SPACES until we have 10 characters +5 SPACES + value RC D7 and
SPACES until we have 10 characters.

4. Common solutions to problems to run the Input macro

One common error message that can pop up when running the macro is
due to the use of the calendar control. Such error message usually looks
like the following:

If you experience any error due to the calendar, the following steps should
be followed to solve this problem:

ANNEX
Annex: This definition is copied from the winter outlook report 2014/15
The methodology consists of identifying the ability of generation to meet the
demand by calculating the so-called remaining capacity under two scenarios:
normal and severe weather conditions.
The methodology is schematically depicted on the figure below:

The basis of the analysis is the situation called normal conditions. Normal
conditions are defined as those conditions that correspond to normal demand on
the system (i.e. normal weather conditions resulting in normal wind production or
hydro output and an average outage level). A severe conditions scenario was
also built showing the sensitivity of the generation-load balance to low
temperature and extreme weather conditions. The severe conditions are related
to what each TSO would expect in terms of demand which will be higher than in
normal conditions and in terms of generation output which is reduced (i.e. severe
conditions resulting on lower wind or restrictions on classical generation power
plants due to e.g. extreme cold).
The figures of the country individual responses show the National Generating
Capacity, the Reliably Available Capacity and the Load at reference point
under normal and severe conditions. The remaining capacity is calculated for
normal conditions. The remaining capacity is also evaluated with firm
import/export contracts and for severe conditions.
For the Regional analysis, the choice can be made to use the Remaining Capacity
before or after inclusion of firm contracts. The right method to use depends on
how the Net Transfer Capacity (NTC) values are defined. When the maximal total
commercial exchange between two countries equals the sum of NTC and firm
contracts, the Remaining Capacity after inclusion of firm contracts should be
used. If the maximal total commercial exchange is limited to the NTC value, the
Remaining Capacity before inclusion of firm contracts should be used.

Page

There were various countries that gave data on firm contracts. NTC values are
used to limit commercial exchanges between neighbouring countries. All
participants were asked to provide the best estimate of the minimum NTC values
for being able to conduct a worst-case analysis. When two participants provided
different NTC values on the same border, the minimum value was taken.
