ONE WEEK within the
due date.

*

For ma jor essays or

projects, every day
the piece is late 10%

Dont worry! We will learn how to

correctly cite our information and

THINKBOOKs and WRITING

NOTEBOOKS

Thinkbooks (ISNs): We will use our

thinkbooks (interactive student notebooks)
for all of our class notes, responses to
literature, quickwrites, double entry journals,
etc. These will be checked for a grade
EVERY FRIDAY!

Stay up to date on HW
assignments and activities
by checking GOOGLE
CALENDAR and/or our
Google Classroom.

Chromebooks
We have have the
privilege of having a
chromebook cart. Please
teat them well. Students
who participate in
inappropriate technology
use (carving, peeling feet,
off-task websites, etc) will
receive consequences
according to the severity
of the misusage.

Late work will be entered in POWERSCHOOL when I get to it. If our

work is not your priority, putting it in the gradebook immediately is not
mine. Please DO NOT ask me to grade it right after you turn it in.

*

YES WE DID SOMETHING WHILE YOU WERE GONE :) You are responsible for
finding out what work you missed. Heres what to do...

*
*

You are responsible for taking quality

notes and participating authentically in
each writing assignment. Your grade will
suffer if you lack effort.

ACCELERATED READER
We get to have dedicated
time each day at the
beginning of class for
independent reading.
The ultimate goal of our
independent reading time
is to develop our personal
tastes as readers as well as
a life-long love for reading.
In order to participate in
reading, it is necessary to
have your book with you
each day. If you are not
prepared with a book to read
each day, it will be reflected
in your AR grade for the
semester.
REMEMBER-AR counts for 10%
of your overall grade!

ABSENTEE POLICY
1.
2.
3.

Writing Notebooks: The only way to

become better writers is to WRITE. You
will use your writing notebook during our
workshops. Here you will participate in
writing activites, craft drafts, and engage in
writing habits like the pros do.

*

Check our class google calendar to see what homework and classwork was missed
Check the Since Youve Been Gone box for papers handed out when you were absent
Ask a friend for notes

After completing these steps, if you still have questions, please see me before or after
class for help.
You have ONE DAY for each day you are absent to make up missed work. After that
day, any missing assignments will be accepted with a late penalty.
Any assignment you are absent for will be entered as a ZERO until it is turned in.
