Question Patterns
You are asked about the speaker's occupation /job. In most of the cases, the speaker's occupation/
job is not mentioned directly; instead there are some key words that may give you a hint. Usually
there are more than one cue about the occupation / job, but the cues are just spoken once only;
therefore it is essential that you should try to identify key words that are related to a certain
specific occupation /job.

Questions about How an Action Is / Was Done
Question Patterns
These questions ask you about how an action is / was performed in the conversation. To find
the correct answer, read the question carefully before listening to the conversation. Keep in
mind that the correct answer choice may be paraphrased from the original expressions in the
conversation, while the wrong choices often contain some exact words or expressions that you
have heard in the conversation. This is to test whether you understand the conversation as a
whole; therefore, it is important to practice listening to different statements that have the
same meaning.
How did the man find his place?
How did the man find his job?
How will the man get to the meeting?
How will the man receive the report?
How will the woman get the news?

ENTREPRENEUR WEEKLY
After carefully reviewing the receipt for my most recent grocery purchases at your market,
I found an error. It seems that I was charged for two bags of potato chips although I
purchased only one. I wanted to return to your market to fix the error, but I could not
because I was leaving for a vacation that same day. I will be on vacation for the next month,
but I am writing you this letter so that we can fix this error in a timely way.
I believe this was a simple and honest error by the cashier. I have been a customer of
your market for many years, and I hope that you will correct this error at your earliest
convenience. I am willing to accept store credit instead of cash if you find this to be easier. I
would appreciate your contacting me bye-mail at JimHenrys@comtech.co.uk.

We appreciate your continued business and have sent 3 boxes of peaches to your store
in Atlanta this morning. However. we are sorry to inform you that we could not fulfill your
original order of a total of 6 boxes. All of our peaches are out of stock for the rest of the
year and will not be available for purchase until next October.
We always want to send all of the fruit that our customers order. but. due to the early
arrival of winter in North America this year. the peach harvest was very small. In addition.
peaches are in heavy demand due to the popularity of peach pies this year. We always want
to meet demand. but circumstances outside of our control have caused us trouble.
I have a good friend who owns a peach farm in Brazil and who may have peaches still available
for sale. If you are interested in having me arrange for the extra 3 boxes of peaches to be
shipped to your address. I should be able to arrange an order for you.
Thank you for continued business and for ordering our world-famous peaches.
