    Saudi Standards take precedence over other standards.


    When a new Saudi Standard is issued it automatically
    takes precedence over any other standard or
    specification mentioned. Since Saudi Standards
    Organization adopts IEC standards with suitable
    modifications for Saudi climatic conditions, IEC
    standards will normally remain applicable, so special
    care should be taken regarding environmental
    conditions and temperature in the kingdom.

    1 09 Schedules and Programs

    Note: Specify requirements for co-ordinating and organizing certain


    works that must be done in special sequence with, or at the same
    time of implementing works in other departments. The particular
    sequence of events should be mentioned here.

    Clock and programme systems shall consist of a central


    master clock, secondary clocks and time circuits,
    programming and signal system.

    2 01 Master Clock (Central)

    The master clock shall be a quartz electronic clock with


    quartz-crystal-controlled oscillator and digital display of
    hours, minutes and seconds.

    The quartz-crystal-controlled oscillator produces and


    transmits pulses of 2 seconds duration per minute and
    alternating polarity to the secondary clocks and
    programming instruments.

    Secondary voltage shall be either 12 or 24 Volt DC.


    The accuracy shall be +/- 0.1 sec per day.

    the clocks which give audible signals, such as the ones


    used in educational establishment, shall be provided
    with a solid state programme controller. (Includes four
    signal circuits and seven day programme with one
    minute signalling pattern)
    The programme signals shall either be controlled by
    computer software or with a seven-day cycle tape.

    2 02 Secondary clocks

    Secondary clocks shall be controlled by the master


    central clock.

    2 03 Time recorders

    Time recorders shall be used to record the arrival and


    departure times of personnel on punch cards recording
    hours minutes and day or date. The casing shall be
    sheet metal and the recorder shall include a monitoring

    clock.
    They shall be designed either as a secondary clock
    (where a master clock system is available) or as an
    independent clock with synchron-gear.

    2 04 Bells

    Bells shall be mounted on surface without an enclosure.


    The sound pressure of the signal shall be a minimum of
    60 dB (A) at a distance of 1 m. Bells shall conform to
    CEN EN 54 part 3

    2 05 Horns

    Horns shall produce a sound pressure signal of 60 dB


    (A) minimum at a distance of 1 m. They shall consist of
    the following fully electronic components: Tone
    generator, wave form generator, amplifier and
    loudspeaker. The frequency range shall be between 800
    and 1100 Hz. The enclosure shall be plastic and
    protection code IP 65. Horns shall conform to CEN EN
    54 part 3

    Time circuits to slave clocks shall use PVC single-core


    wires conforming to SASO 1320 with conductors at
    least 1.5 mm2 .The master central clock station and
    secondary clocks whether analogue and digital clocks
    shall be installed according to the manufacturers
    instructions.

    The Bill of Quantity may specify numbers of clocks


    outlets. In this case, the unit shall include all
    conductors, raceways, boxes and termination.

    Alternatively, the Bill of Quantity may include all the


    cables and raceways for installation of the slave clock
    lines per metre as installed.
