COMMUNIQUE

MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND PUBLIC UTILITIES


Training Scheme for Pre Registration Trainee Engineers

Applications are invited from qualified candidates who wish to undergo/complete training in the
Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities with a view to obtaining registration as Engineer.

I Allowance: Rs 24,750 x 775 26,300

II Qualifications Candidates should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic


: Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering which is
recognised by the Council of Registered Professional Engineers of Mauritius
as qualifying for registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of
Mauritius under Section 13 of the Registered Professional Engineers Council
Act No. 49 of 1965, and as subsequently amended.

III Training: 1. Trainee Engineers will be required to undergo and complete a period
of training of a least two years and not exceeding three years.

2. During the training period, Trainee Engineers will work under the
direct responsibility and supervision of Engineers of the Ministry or
any organisation falling under the aegis of the Ministry and will not
be allowed to decide or advise or report on, design or approve the
designs of any engineering project.

Note: (i) Successful Completion of the training will not give the trainee any
claim for permanent appointment as Engineer in the Ministry or
elsewhere in the Public Service.

(ii) If the Trainee wishes to join the Public service, he will have to
compete in the usual way with other candidates applying for posts
advertised by the Public Service Commission provided he possesses
the prescribed qualifications.

(iii) The enlistment as Pre-Registration Trainee Engineer will be


terminated on successful completion of the two-year training course.
Trainees who do not complete their training successfully during the
prescribed period may be allowed to continue their training for a
further period of up to six months.

A last and final period of grace not exceeding six months may still
exceptionally be allowed to Trainees to finalise their registration, but during
this extended and exceptional grace period, trainees will not draw any salary.

Human Resource Section of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, Level 2, SICOM Tower, Ebene.

VI. The closing date for submissions of is Thursday 20 October 2016.
