PRECAUTIONS
Precaution for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT
PRE-TENSIONER" INFOID:0000000005779615
The Supplemental Restraint System such as AIR BAG and SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER, used along
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS and SB section of
this Service Manual.
WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in
the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by
an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.
Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS can lead to personal
injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air Bag
Module, see the SRS section.
Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this
Service Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harnesses or har-
ness connectors.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING POWER TOOLS (AIR OR ELECTRIC) AND HAMMERS
WARNING:
When working near the Airbag Diagnosis Sensor Unit or other Airbag System sensors with the Igni-
tion ON or engine running, DO NOT use air or electric power tools or strike near the sensor(s) with a
hammer. Heavy vibration could activate the sensor(s) and deploy the air bag(s), possibly causing
serious injury.
When using air or electric power tools or hammers, always switch the Ignition OFF, disconnect the
battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before performing any service.

1. Loosen lock nut and disconnect accelerator wire from throttle drum.
2. Remove accelerator wire bracket bolts. J
3. Disconnect accelerator wire from accelerator pedal arm and remove accelerator wire.
4. Remove accelerator pedal nut.
5. Remove accelerator pedal assembly. K
6. Remove E-ring, then separate accelerator pedal from pedal bracket.
CAUTION:
L
The accelerator wire should be adjusted when removing or replacing any parts of the Accelerator
Control System.
Check that the throttle valve opens fully when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed. Also check
that the throttle valve returns to the idle position when the accelerator pedal is released. M
Check the accelerator control parts for interference contact with any adjacent parts.
When connecting the accelerator wire, be careful not to twist or scratch the inner wire.
Adjusting Accelerator Wire INFOID:0000000005472801 N
1. Loosen lock nut and tighten adjusting nut until the throttle drum
starts to move. O
2. Loosen adjusting nut 1.5 to 2 turns, and tighten lock nut to spec-
ification as shown.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect accelerator pedal position sensor harness connector.
2. Loosen nuts, and remove accelerator pedal assembly. J
CAUTION:
Do not disassemble accelerator pedal assembly. Do not remove accelerator pedal position sen-
sor from accelerator pedal assembly. K
Avoid impact from dropping etc. during handling.
Be careful to keep accelerator pedal assembly away from water.
Do not adjust adjusting screw (painted white).

INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse order of removal.
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION M
Make sure that accelerator pedal moves smoothly within the whole operation range.
Make sure that accelerator pedal securely returns to the original position.
For the electrical inspection of accelerator pedal position sensor, refer to EC-552, "Component Inspection" N
YD (Type 1), EC-812, "Component Inspection" YD (Type 2).
