Objectives:

Learning outcomes:
define the fundamentals of relational, object-oriented, and distributed database systems
including: data models, database architectures, and database manipulations.
solve problems in query formulation, data modeling, normalization, application data
requirements, and customization of database applications.
design relational database in both theory and practical application.
Synopsis
This course covers database design and the use of databases in applications, with a short
introduction to the internals of relational database systems. It includes coverage of the relational
model, relational algebra, and SQL. The course also features database design and relational design
principles based on dependencies and normal forms.
