Lesson Plan, Refliction, Observation (Pattern)

1. The lesson plan template provides details for a math lesson on patterns for grade 1 students including learning outcomes, materials, introduction, learning centers, and assessment. 2. The lesson introduction involves a warm up drawing shapes and colors on the board to form a pattern and having students predict the next item. Students will then make their own patterns. 3. Students will work in small groups at four learning centers involving creating patterns with pictures, shapes, colors, and cutting/pasting flowers. 4. The closing involves students sharing what they learned and restating the learning outcome. The teacher will assess students' understanding of patterns.

Math (pattern)
Today lesson about pattern. Students learn what the pattern by
implementation is.

The lesson will represent to grade 1-c girls and took place firstly in the
carpet to explain the lesson and do the video game together to be
more attention and then they will go in their groups.
Students were identifying pattern by pictures and color and cubes.
Students will understand their activities then will appear in front of the
class to show us.
They will enthusiastic of what they accomplished to show us what they
did. I think student will be fun because I make for them pictures related
what girls like for example color, shape and frozen to make pattern also
they will be fun because they will understand the lesson. And I will
make student engage because I did for them nice activities to have fun
with groups.
Next time I will work with each group to check and give him more
activities when they finish and give him pictures to identify for me
pattern.
During I explain the lesson some student not paying attention they
dont listening to me because they speak with her friends.
I take point from them in class dojo.
My lesson match the goals because I looked for lesson plane outcome
and I make plane with my teacher to help me by planning activities for
students level and I did a lot of activities and extra worksheet for
students who finish quickly.
In future I will scan the page book and put it in front of the board to
work together.
Red instruction to them and explain it.

Tr introduces Sing of the Song it is SONG of SOUNDS. Make sure to do the actions with the
students. Remember model first. Students are familiar with the song and the actions.

Tr asks students what letter they took yesterday and told them the 2 other letters z, y, q (pay
attention to the size of your letters on the board.
Tr calls ss group by group to the board. Ss follow instructions promptly. Tr tells ss that they will do
math about patterns. Youtube doesnt work (be sure to check your resources with your MST before
you use). Tr reviews patterns using circle, square, circle, square.what comes next? Modelling on
the board needs to be clearer. Tr played video, emphasizing the pattern being shown. Tr asks ss to
raise their hands if they know the answer. Well done Ss are engaged with the video.

Triangle, circle, square.tr asks ss to raise their hands. One student answered circle. Tr said no.
Another student answers blue. Can you remember what you should do when students answer
incorrectly? Model the question again triangle, circle, square, triangle, circle, square, triangle,
circle(choose student who got it wrong and ask her to answer).

Tr uses papers on the board and asks ss to make patterns. Pattern that you made is only a repeating
pattern if it repeats ask yourself where does the first pattern finish? cloud, cloud, cloud; star, star,
star, sun, sun, sun

Cloud, cloud, cloud is not a pattern as the first pattern does not finish. It finishes at sun. then it
should start again with cloud, cloud, cloud.

Tr asks ss to return to their centres and tells each group what they will complete. Spelling mistake
blow instead of blue.

9:00 ss are in centres.

Tr circulates through the class working with ss to correct and model. Worksheet provided for special
needs student with only 2 colours and 2 shapes.

Tr used online timer. When ss heard timer, they cleaned up quickly and quietly. Tr helped ss to
clean up. MST put books baskets on the table. Clear routines and transitions are being followed in
this classroom.

Tr revisits pattern clouds, star and sun that was incorrect in the starter and asks the ss to help her
make the pattern. Tr called special needs student to finish the pattern and class clapped.

Tr tells ss to open their books to p50 and 51. Ss are familiar with the expectation. Having a scan on
the display to explain to the whole class would have helped the students to know what to do before
they got started. Your focus group here should be the low level students as everyone has the same
task if everyone has the exact same activity, you need to differentiate by support (i.e. you, the
teacher).

Feedback

A. Professionalism and Understanding

MST praised tr saying that they were a great team and that she didnt want you to leave. You
have engaged well with the classroom and have built a very positive rapport with the students.
Well done.

B. Planning for Learning

Your lesson plan is laid out well, although I did not see the Show Me strategy at the end of the
class. Each stage of the lesson is well described and allows for a smooth flow. Activities were
appropriately differentiated, although some more instruction was needed for a few groups.

C. Implementing and Managing Learning

Creating the patterns was clearly modelled on the board. However, 1 modelling activity was
incorrect, which you then retaught at the end of the lesson. Well done for not ignoring the
mistake. Questioning during whole class and centers was key. Keep developing your questions
and think about the next step in patterns if the student can copy, continue and create simple
patterns, what is the next level? Students were fully engaged from the beginning to the end of
the class great hands-on activities. Ensure that you check the content of each student.

D. Monitoring and Assessment of Learning

Good range of questioning. What is being used for assessment is unclear. You monitored each
group, only missing a few corrections.

E. Reflection
Reflection shows that you are evaluating the efficacy of the learning activities including the use
of the notebook, which the students HAVE to do. And modifying the have to activities so that
students understand and can work independently will be the key to more independent work.
