RATIONALE
The 13th Campus Journalism Congress (CJC): Luzon-Wide Campus Journalism Training
Seminar-Workshop is a activity pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 7079, also known as the
Campus Journalism Act of 1991, which advocates free and responsible journalism at the school
level. The conference encourages students to practice and hone their journalistic skills in writing
and critical thinking while strengthening ethical values and developing discipline.

This 2017, CJC will be focusing on the theme "The Role of the Young Journalists in
Social Media Age towards Integrity and Authenticity."

OBJECTIVES
1. To hone the skills of high school students in journalism
2. To raise a concern regarding the authenticity and integrity of news articles and print media
3. To provide a platform where students can compete and improve their writing skills while
promoting competence and camaraderie among the participants.
4. To demonstrate free and responsible journalism at school, at work, and at the community.
