NOTA: Aunque TO BE significa SER y también ESTAR, la diferencia entre los dos conceptos se ve con las
preguntas <<WH->>, fijándonos si va seguido de adverbio o de adjetivo.
- SEGUIDO DE NOMBRES:
He’s a teacher. = Él es profesor.
We are football players. = Somos jugadores de fútbol.

- SEGUIDO DE ADVERBIOS
They’re well. = Ellos/as están bien.
- Los señalados con asteriscos en la lista son adjetivos que derivan de verbos que se traducen como
ESTAR (sentirse) cansado, aburrido, asustado o preocupado. Observa que todos acaban en <<ED>>.
Si se quiere definir algo que <<es>>, es decir, que produce cansancio, aburrimiento, miedo o
preocupación, se utilizaran estos otros adjetivos, también derivados de los mismos verbos y que
acaban en <<ING>>:
Boring Que aburre
Frightening Que da miedo o asusta
Tiring Que cansa

Crocodiles are frightening animals. = Los cocodrilos son animales que dan miedo.
The film <<Alone in the Desert>> is very boring. = La película <<Solo en el desierto>> es muy

PRESENTE SIMPLE
Con el PRESENTE SIMPLE se expresan cosas que ocurren habitualmente, pero no están sucediendo
necesariamente en el momento de hablar. El presente simple expresa hechos generales y el presente
continuo se refiere a hechos particulares.
Birds sing. = Los pájaros cantan.
People sleep at night. = La gente duerme por la noche.
Cats don’t like dogs. = A los gatos no les gustan los perros.
She doesn’t like in Cuenca. = Ella no vive en Cuenca.
Does your sister like animals? = ¿Le gustan a tu hermana los animales?
Where do you live? = ¿Dónde vives?
