Once the design is complete, most of the major decisions about the system have
been made. The goal of the coding phase is to translate the design of the system
into code in a given programming language. For a given design, the aim of this
phase is to implement the design in the best possible manner. The coding phase
affects both testing and maintenance profoundly.
A well written code reduces the testing and maintenance effort. Since the testing
and maintenance cost of software are much higher than the coding cost, the goal
of coding should be to reduce the testing and maintenance effort. Hence, during
coding the focus should be on developing programs that are easy to write.
Simplicity and clarity should be strived for, during the coding phase.

For structured programming, a few single-entry-single-exit constructs should be
used. These constructs includes selection (if-then-else), and iteration (while - do,
repeat - until etc). With these constructs it is possible to construct a program as
sequence of single - entry - single - exit constructs.
There are many methods available for verifying the code. Some methods are
static in nature that is, that is they do not involve execution of the code. Examples
of such methods are data flow analysis, code reading, code reviews, testing (a
method that involves executing the code, which is used very heavily). In the
coding phase, the entire system is not tested together. Rather, the different
modules are tested separately. This testing of modules is called "unit testing".
Consequently, this phase is often referred to as "coding and unit testing". The
output of this phase is the verified and unit tested code of the different modules.
TESTING MEANING OF TESTING Once the code has been written, program
testing begins. The testing process focuses on the logical internals of the
software, ensuring that all statements have been tested, and on the functional
externals; that is, conducting tests to uncover errors end to ensure that the
defined input will produce the desired output.
so to maintain all these we are following a system development life cycle process
in which we have planned these works and stages to make our work easy like:
Analysis and Feasibility study Form Design ANALYSIS AND FEASIBLITY STUDY An
analysis and evaluation of a proposed project to determine if it: Is technically
feasible Is feasible with in estimated cost Will be profitable Feasibility studies are
almost always conducted where large sums are at stake. Also called feasibility
analysis.
It is an evaluation of the hardware and software and how it meets the need of the
proposed system TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY OF PROJECT At this level, the concern
is whether the proposal is both technically and legally feasible A brief description
of the university/colleges to assess more possible factors which could affect the
study The part of the colleges being examined The students and economic factor
The possible solutions to the problem MEANING OF OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY
Operational feasibility is a measure of how well a proposed system solves the
problems, and takes advantage of the opportunities identified during scope
definition and how it satisfies the requirements identified in the requirements
analysis phase of system development.
3
MEANING OF ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY The purpose of the economic feasibility
assessment is to determine the positive economic benefits to the organization
that the proposed system will provide. It includes quantification and identification
of all the benefits expected. This assessment typically involves a cost/ benefits
analysis. It includes: Project or product life Value of product and services Cost of
product and services Accounting profitability ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY OF
PROJECT In this we ensure that our project is not so much costly. It includes
quantification and identification of all the benefits expected.
After discussing with some of the technical persons, friends, guide; it was
concluded that the design of the application should be 3 tier which means that
the system will be developed in orientation to three thing: DATA It includes
Database, Tables, Stored Procedures, and Cursors etc. BUSINESS It includes the
logic that will actually process the data but it should be in the form of objects
and classes that will help in providing the application components reusability,
abstraction and other Object Oriented features. PRESENTATION It includes the
front end that links the user to the whole system.

System Requirement Specification SRS states the goals and objectives of the
software. It also defines the scope of the software. It provides a detailed
description of the problem that the software has solved. Information content,
flow, structure, hardware, software and human interfaces are described.
PURPOSE Its main objective is to help the students who need to search
about universities. Through this application user know about the information of
university in home. So the time of user is being saved. USER FRIENDLINESS This
project will have user-friendly screens. The screens designed will have very simple
functionality for retrieving information.
