The BT Cargo E-series range of electric counterbalance trucks

offers the most complete choice of models—all with a host of
standard features and the assurance of the highest levels of
productivity.

A wide range for all applications (pp 4–5)

One of the widest ranges of electric trucks in the industry, with
compact models that offer maximum manoeuvrability for work in
confined areas, trucks with high-capacity batteries for extended
working hours, and heavy-duty models with capacities up to five
tonnes. All E-series trucks incorporate a host of standard
features and offer maximum flexibility in operation.

Power and performance (pp 6–7)

Every truck in the family is driven by BT’s proven AC power
system, with advanced CAN-Bus control. The result is
exceptional power for acceleration and travel speed,
regeneration of energy for efficient and extended working
patterns, and exceptional reliability with simplified service and
maintenance.The trucks are highly programmable and offer
intelligent motor control for safe and effective operation.

The driver experience (pp 8–9)

Maximum productivity demands a high performance truck, but
also a positive driver experience, which requires ergonomy,
safety, and ease of operation. The E-series fully meets these
demands. Every truck in the range offers:
• sideshift as standard equipment*
• automatic speed reduction when cornering
• a choice of three different direction control systems
• a choice of three different fork control systems
• rear safety lights as standard equipment
• clear-view masts on all models
• a comprehensive driver information display

Options for maximum flexibility (p 10)

All BT Cargo models are designed to easily accommodate
equipment for special applications: anything from a hydraulically
controlled fork-spread attachment to invertors, half or fully
enclosed cabs, and trucks engineered for coldstores, corrosive
environments, or ATEX classified applications.

4 A wide range for all applications

CBE 12–20 T and F models (48 volt)

For a wide range of typical applications, the
E-series offers a complete range of models
with handling capacities of 1200, 1500,
1600, 1800, or 2000kg.

For maximum manoeuvrability ‘three-wheel’

(T) models are ideal in all types of
application, being able to work comfortably
in racking systems as well as undertaking
general pallet handling duties. A twin rear
wheel configuration improves traction,
comfort, and stability when working at
height without compromising ease of
operation.

For applications that require the highest

levels of stability during the handling
process—for example when working on
ramps or slopes—four-wheel (F) models are
available.

6 Power and performance

AC power and CAN-Bus control

E-series models are powered by AC motors,
which offer excellent torque and acceleration.

Braking is regenerative and occurs whenever the

accelerator is released, which gives improved
control and longer working cycles. Truck speed
can be controlled by the accelerator pedal alone,
with braking effected as soon as it is released.

AC power also brings the advantages of superior

performance adaptability. Switching between
forward and reverse travel is faster, and on ramps
and slopes the AC motors allow excellent control.

The absence of carbon brushes and power

contacts in AC motors significantly reduces
maintenance time and parts costs. The CAN-Bus
concept also reduces the number of components
and improves overall control flexibility and
reliability.

High-capacity battery models

Selected Cargo E-series models are designed to
be fitted with high-capacity batteries, allowing
extended work cycles. These include CBE 16L,
18L, 30L, and C4E160-200L models.

Intelligent drive-motor control system

All models feature intelligent drive-motor control
systems.

There are two key advantages. Firstly, the drive-

motors adapt to the turning radius of the truck. All
48 volt machines have twin drive motors, which
automatically reverse the drive direction of one
wheel when approaching full lock. This applies to
both 3 and 4 wheel models. Heavier duty 80 volt
trucks feature a single heavy-duty drive-motor
with an active differential system.

In addition to standard low and high performance
settings, all E-series models’ performance
parameters can be programmed to suit the
operator and the application.

Creep speed, acceleration and deceleration rates,

speed, are all programmable.

Low-maintenance braking systems

All E-series models feature oil-immersed disc
brakes, which require significantly less
maintenance than non-sealed systems, while
delivering controllable, progressive braking.

Exceptional turning circle

All E-series trucks have an excellent
turning circle. On C4E models,
however, it is greater than 90°, for
exceptional manoeuvrability.
8 The driver experience

Of course, the most important feature of any fork-lift truck is its

operator. The cab on all Cargo models is designed solely with him or
her in mind. Everything from the seat to the steering wheel is fully
adjustable to ensure maximum comfort, and therefore, safety and
productivity.

A choice of fork control systems

E-series models are available with a choice of three different fork control
systems, which ensures the optimum method can be chosen to meet driver
preference and the needs of individual applications. Traditional hydraulic
control levers are available, but alternative variants based on a multi-function
armrest are also available. Fingertip control levers are offered for effortless and
accurate fork movements, or twin mini-joysticks which offer intuitive control
throughout the handling process.

A choice of directional control systems

Fork truck manufacturers have developed alternative methods of direction
control for counterbalance trucks. Therefore, in order to ensure a perfect fit in
any operation, all E-series models offer a choice of three pedal arrangements.
The two-pedal variant works with manual direction control. Alternatively there
is a choice of two different three-pedal variants available, thereby ensuring a
perfect application fit, matching existing driver experience.

All E-series trucks have a handbrake
like that found in a car. It is
conveniently mounted to the left of
the steering column. The emergency
cut-off button is also mounted here.

Comprehensive driver information

display
The dashboard contains all instruments
necessary for safe driving, including
warning, fault-finding, and maintenance
indicators. Battery condition, parking
brake position, drive direction and
selected performance mode are all
displayed. A photocell ensures that the
display’s brightness is always optimised
for the ambient light levels.

CBE 12–20 models feature an invaluable rear wheel position indicator,

which tells the operator the precise alignment of the steered wheels at any
time, aiding safety and productivity.

Programmable performance and automatic speed reduction

Three drive programmes are available (low, high, and programmed
performance), directly selectable by the operator by push-buttons (L–H–P)
on the steering column.

Turtle button
The turtle button on the steering column allows instant maxiumum speed
reduction of 60% in all drive programmes. This is ideal when passing
through hazardous areas, such as, for example, passing doorways.
E-series models also have programmable creep speed or ‘inching’. This
allows fine control over truck position for precise and safe operation.

10 Options for maximum flexibility

Fork control systems

For more intuitive control with minimum operator effort, a multi-function
armrest is available on all E-series models with a choice of fingertip
levers or two mini-joysticks (see page 8).

Directional control systems

As an alternative to the standard two-pedal layout, two three-pedal
alternatives are also available, to suit operator preference and, therefore,
easy integration into any application (see page 8).

Fork attachments
E-series models are available with a wide variety of fork attachments,
including fork spreaders, inverters, and clamps. Talk to your local BT
supplier for more information.

Complete lights system

All Cargo models are available with a complete lights system.

Tyre options
All Cargo models come with Superelastic tyres as standard. They can
also be supplied with pneumatic, cushion, or non-marking tyres for
clean environments. The 2.5–5.0 tonne models are also available with
twin-drive tyres.

Enclosed cabs
Cargo trucks are available with a choice of cabs for outdoor work: half
cab, canvas cab (PVC sides), and complete cab. All cabbed trucks
have front and rear wipers. A heating system is optional for trucks fitted
with a cab.

Corrosive environment version

CBE 1.2 to 3.5 tonne models are available in corrosive environment
versions.

Coldstore specification
E-series models are available adapted for use in coldstore
environments.

EEx version
All Cargo electric models are available in ATEX-compliant EEx versions
(categories 2G/D and 3G/D) for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres.
