The key takeaways are that the kindergarten teachers provide important information about class newsletters, absences, transportation changes, the blue chameleon folder, and lunch payments. They also outline the classroom management system and daily schedule.
The classroom uses a system called 'Be like Cary!' which stands for Collaborative, Achieving, Respectful, Year-round Leaders. It uses a whole class 'CARY' card and individual cards along with positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior.
The daily schedule includes morning meeting, literacy centers, lunch, Letterland, recess, writer's workshop, math or science/social studies, snack, specials, and dismissal. Letterland is a phonics program that teaches reading and writing through stories.
