Present Past Generally, there are 3 types of text:


Is Was 1. Past tense category – story/recount/report
Are Were 2. Present tense category – factual/habitual
Has Had 3. Mixed (present & past) – factual + a short paragraph of story
Does Did

BASIC GRAMMAR RULES
Rules that use the infinitive form (words in the boxes) are as follow:
1. to-infinitive: I like to eat Char Kuey Teow. (Find 2 examples from 2015(S12A2), pg. 2)

2. do, does & did + infinitive

3. Modal verbs: Mummy Sha Will Cane Me

Other common grammar rules:


Usage of (is, are, was, were) + verb
(is, are, was, were) + participle (Find 6 sentences in 2015 (S12A1), pg. 1)
(is, are, was, were) + continuous (She is taking the book.)
(is, are, was, were) + being + participle (The ball is being kicked) – passive voice
(is, are, was, were) CANNOT + simple/past form (WRONG)
