f 0 (x) + 2g 0 (x) − f (x) − 2g(x) = 0
1. Solve for f (x) and g(x) that satisfy given that f (0) =
2f 0 (x) − g 0 (x) + x[2f (x) − g(x)] = 0
5, g(0) = 0.
2. A radioactive substance decays to 600 g 1500 years from now. If, for another 500 years, the
substance decayed to 500 g, how much of that substance is present today? Answers in 3
decimal places.
3. It’s 18◦ C outside at 6:00 am and I want to take a zip of the best served coffee at 78◦ C. After
taking a zip, I ran some errands for about 3 minutes. Then the coffee is already 60◦ C. What
is the temperature of the coffee at 7:00 am? Answers to the nearest integer. The temperature
in the environment did not change at that time.
6. Let f (x) be a differentiable function with x, y > 0 and f (8) = 32. Let KLMN be a rectangle
by the points N (0, 0), M (t, 0), L(t, f (t)), K(0, f (t)). Find the function f such that the area
3
bounded by x = 0, x = t, y = 0 and f is always the area of KLMN.

7. A container holds 400L mixture of 20% mercury. A 60% mercury mixture is constantly pouring
at the container at a rate of 5L per hour. At the same time, the fully mixed new mixture is
discharged at 5L per hour, too. After 2 hours, how much mercury does the container have?
Assume a smooth flow of the fluid. Answers in 2 decimal places.
8. Based from the previous item, If the discharge at the first container continously flows through
another container that has 500L of 70% mercury and also discharges at the same rate, how
much mercury will it have after 2 hours? Answers in 2 decimal places.
9. Based from the previous item, the discharge by the second container is connected to a third
container which has 900L of water and still discharges a fully stirred solution at the same rate.
How much mercury will the container have after 2 hours? Answers in 2 decimal places.
10. I need to memorize 50 formulas for my exam that I will take in about 24 hours from now. If
my brain follows the condition that the rate of how fast I memorize a number of formulas is
proportional to the number of remaining formulas to be solved, and within 12 hours, I already
memorized 28 of them, what is the approximate number of formulas I memorized right before
I take the exam? Answers in 2 decimal places.
