Introduction.

 What is the road construction?

The modern day road is defined as a paved or easily accessible path, made so
by the use of modern day road construction equipment such as hydraulic excavators,
motor graders, asphalt pavers, wheel loaders and vibratory compactors.

 What are the types of roads?

 2.1 Freeway.
 2.2 Highways. 2.2.1 Major Highway. 2.2.2 Minor Highway. 2.2.3 Ramps. 2.2.4
Primary Street.
 2.3 Streets. 2.3.1 Street. 2.3.2 Dirt. 2.3.3 Parking Lot Road. ...
 2.4 Non-drivable. 2.4.1 Walking Trails. 2.4.2 Pedestrian Boardwalks. 2.4.3
Stairway. ...
 2.5 Types of segments (Roundabouts)

 What is Highway in civil engineering?

Highway engineering is an engineering discipline branching from civil
engineering that involves the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of
roads, bridges, and tunnels to ensure safe and effective transportation of people and goods.

Site Selection.
Select a road construction site.
We are Choice site a road construction site for our Practical
field training report because Roads make a crucial contribution
to economic development and growth and bring
important social benefits. They are of vital importance in order
to make a nation grow and develop. The site that we select is a
service road construction.

Materials are use in roads.
Gravels. Crushed stone may be made from granite,
limestone, duotone, and other rocks. Also known as "crusher
run", DGA (dense grade aggregate) QP (quarry process), and
shoulder stone. Fine gravel: gravel consisting of particles with
a diameter of 2 to 4 mm. gravel is a loose aggregation of rock
fragments. Gravel is classified by particle size range and
includes size classes from granule- to boulder-sized
fragments. In the Udden-Wentworth scale gravel is categorized
into granular gravel (2 to 4 mm or 0.079 to 0.157 in) and
pebble gravel (4 to 64 mm or 0.2 to 2.5 in).

Sand & Cement. Construction sand and gravel

is used to make concrete, for road construction, for mixing with
asphalt, as construction fill, and in the production of construction
materials. Sand is use in road as a filling material or use in
preparation of concrete. Cement use as a binder material in
concrete and cement bind the all material of concrete. Cement is
mainly used as a binder in concrete, which is a basic material for
all types of construction, including housing, roads, schools,
hospitals, dams and ports, as well as for decorative applications
(for patios, floors, staircases, driveways, pool decks) and items
like tables, sculptures or bookcases

Asphalt. The primary use (70%) of asphalt is in road

construction, where it is used as the glue or binder mixed with
aggregate particles to create asphalt concrete. Its other main uses
are for bituminous waterproofing products, including production of
roofing felt and for sealing flat roofs.

Machines are use in roads.
Excavator. Excavators (hydraulic) are heavy
construction equipment consisting of a boom, dipper (or
stick), bucket and cab on a rotating platform known as the
"house". The house sits atop an undercarriage with tracks or
wheels. is one of the major machines used in earthwork
construction, comprised of power unit, transmission system,
traveling system, rotary structure, control mechanism,
electrical and working devices. The working device of
excavator can be attached with dozens of different tools
according to various working conditions, thus the excavators
are suitable for use in many construction jobsites including
road, railway, buildings, mining, water engineering and national defense etc.

Grader. A grader, also commonly referred to as

a road grader or a motor grader, is
a construction machine with a long blade used to
create a flat surface during the grading process.
... Graders are commonly used in the
construction and maintenance of dirt roads and gravel
roads.

Road Roller. Use of Road

Rollers in construction. Road roller (sometimes called
a roller-compactor or just roller) is a compactor type
engineering vehicle used to compact soil, gravel, concrete, or
asphalt in the construction of roads and foundations,
similar rollers are used also at landfills or in agriculture.

Roadbed.
A layer of ballast that supports the sleepers of a railway track

Sub base.
In highway engineering, sub base is the layer of aggregate material laid on the
sub grade, on which the base course layer is located. It may be omitted when there will be only
foot traffic on the pavement, but it is necessary for surfaces used by vehicles. Sub base is often
the main load-bearing layer of the pavement.

Base.
Road Base Material also known as road rock, road gravel, aggregate base, AB,
asphalt base and 3/4″ minus. ... It allows the storm water to be shed and keep theroad bed from

becoming a bed of mud. Base material primarily used in driveways
and pathways, and an excellent wet weather product.

Road Shoulder. A road shoulder is a strip of land

immediately adjacent to the traffic lane of a road not bordered
by kerb & channel. The shoulder may be sealed in the case
of highways and major roads, but it is typically unsealed and of a
lesser depth and perhaps constructed of inferior material than the
adjacent traffic lane.

 provide a factor of safety for road users who accidently

leave or are forced to leave the sealed pavement area, and
 Protect the sealed pavement from excess deterioration.

Hatching. Hatching is provide in the

shoulder it is provided with concrete it is use to
stable the cube.

Recommendations

Over Moisture. we visit the site we

see the over moisture in sub grade layer we
recommended to avoid over moisture value and
compacted it properly and fill the moisture place
in sub grade layer.

Curb. we visit the site location and see that curb

not provide and laying the material without curb we
recommended first off all provide curb edges of road
and then laying the material properly

Embankment. We recommended
that soil is free from organic material that are use
in road
