1. What is the common difference of an A.P. in which a21 - a7 = 84 ?
Solution:
Given
a21 – a7 =84 ....................(1)
In an A.P a1, a2, a3, a4 …………
an = a1 + (n – 1)d d = common difference
a21 = a1 + 20 d ……………..(2)
a7 = a1 + 6d ……………….(3)
substituting (2) & (3) in (1)
a1 + 20d – a1 – 6d = 84
14d = 84
d=6
common difference = 6
