Justification for providing Pressure Reducing Valve Set on 8/F (North Tower) Justification for Pressure Reducing Fire Hydrant Provision (North Tower)

Design Pump Duty of the Fixed Fire Pump on 1/F = 12 Bar @ 900 l/min Based on the previous calculation, FH/HR System Pressure on 8/F = 8.825 bar
Typical office floor height = 4m
Height difference from 8/F High level to pump outlet on 1/F:
= 40.2 + 3.5 - (12.2 + 0.9) = 30.6 ~ 31m The pressure on the two floors above would be :
System Pressure on 9/F = 8.825 - 0.4 = 8.425 Bar
Static pressure loss from pump outlet to 8/F High Level = 3.1 bar System Pressure on 10/F = 8.825 - 0.8 = 8.025 Bar
System Pressure on 11/F = 8.825 - 1.2 = 7.625 Bar
Pipe length: System Pressure on 12/F = 8.825 - 1.6 = 7.225 Bar
150mm pipe from 1/F to 8/F = 58m
The System Pressure on 8/F after the Pressure Reducing Valve Set = 4 Bar
Equivalent length of 150mm fittings and valves: Height difference from 8/F to 1/F = 40.2 - 12.2 = 28m
150mm elbow = 8 x 4.3m = 34.4m Height difference from 8/F to G/F = 40.2 - 6.7 = 33.5m
150mm gate valve = 1 x 1.1m = 1.1m Height difference from 8/F to B1/F = 40.2 - 2.6 = 37.6m
150mm check valve = 2 x 32m = 64m Height difference from 8/F to B2/F = 40.2 - (-2.2) = 42.4m
150mm tee = 2 x 8.6m = 17.2m
Fire Hydrant Pressure on 1/F = 4 + 2.8 = 6.8 Bar
Total Equivalent Length = 116.7 +58 = 174.7m Fire Hydrant Pressure on B1/F = 4 + 3.76 = 7.76 Bar
Fire Hydrant Pressure on B2/F = 4 + 4.24 = 8.24 Bar
Pipe friction loss:
The frictional loss due to water flow is calculated using Hazen-William formula As a measure to ensure the FSD' pressure requirement on FH/HR system (not more than 850 kPa) can be
5 complied with during system inspection, Pressure Reducing Fire Hydrant will be provided on floors where the
