Product Range and Benefits

Soft Seated Butterfly Valve DN40 to DN300

Type 2231 Wafer Extended life span

This butterfly valve has a unique wave line rubber seat and a special disc
shape, enhancing the life span of the valve and sealing.
Dimensions
DN40 - DN300
DN350 - DN600 Reduced torque
Due to the unique wave line rubber seat and disc shape the butterfly valve
has a low torque.

One of a kind
It is the only butterfly valve in the world constructed with a bushing inside the
disc - resulting in lower torque, lower friction, 100% tight shut-off function
and a very long service.

Seat construction
On the Wafer type the seat is vulcanized onto a phenol back-up ring. On the
Lug type and the double flanged type the seat is vulcanized onto the body.

Soft Seated Butterfly Valve DN40 to DN600

Type 2241 Lug Perfect turning and centric positioning

The butterfly valve has a PTFE/graphite bushing, which ensures perfect
turning and centric positioning of the stem.
Dimensions
DN40 - DN300 Trouble-free mounting

Construction DN40 - DN300 Wafer & lug type

Body GGG40 is standard - 3 layer coating EPOXY/EPOXY/PUR, 160 µ.

Types: wafer, lug and double flange.

A unique dynamic wave line rubber seat provides a highly efficient seal.
Seat
Reduced torque.

Extended sealing life span.

Making automation a very price competitive.

On the wafer type the seat is vulcanized to a phenolic back-up ring - a re-
placeable construction - on the lug type the seat is vulcanized onto the body.

Simple seat replacement.

100% tightness at full differential pressure (PN16 = 16 bar from DN40 -

DN150, PN10 = 10 bar from DN200 - DN600).

Ideal for full vacuum applications.

Trouble-free mounting between flanges.

Disc with two-piece shaft construction which enhances the Cv value of the
Disc valve and reduces turbulence.

The shape and finishing of the edge of the disc, provides the lowest possible
operating torque with bubble-tight shut off, even at maximum operating pres-
sure, thus extending the life span of the valve.

6 Know-how makes the difference

An Company B-2231-UK-07-2012-REV. B
Construction DN40 - DN300 Wafer & lug type

Square stem.
Shaft / bearings
PTFE bearing ensures perfect turning and centric positioning of the stem.

The sleeve bearing provides excellent support, where actuators are used for
automation purposes.

The bottom PTFE/Graphite bearing is one of a kind - it is placed inside the

Unique bottom bearing disc, where it is actually needed.

Usually there would be a bearing in the bottom of the body - which means a
rotating shaft that transmits the forces put onto the disc down to the bearing.

The result is a displacement of the forces and this is prevented by the unique
bottom bearing - giving the valve a longer and trouble-free life span.

Long shafts for transmitting force are more vulnerable to excessive torsion
than short shafts.

The V-ring provides a secondary seal which prevents leakage to the stem.
V-type ring and end cover
The V-ring also provides a weather seal.

The end cover is sealed at the bottom with a threaded plug.

The end cover has an anit-dust O-ring.

Valve Sizing

Determining the size of butterfly valves for control purposes should not be done on the basis of the nominal diam-
eter of the pipe but should be calculated on the basis of the operating characteristics in order to attain the correct
control characteristics.

Butterfly valves Type 2231 / Type 2241 from Dansk Ventil Center are designed with approximately equal percentage
characteristics over an opening angle of 65°.

You only need to consider the opening angle when determining the size of control valves. When determining the
valve nominal diameter calculate the Kv value from the below formula:
Example: DN 100
900

Type 2231 / 2241
Liquid: KV = Flow coefficient. 700 Type 2400

Installation Guide

Check that the specifications on the identification plate meet the require-
Installation guide for ments regarding pressure, temperature and media.
Butterfly Valves
The piping must have a straight line and the flanges have to be parallel.
Furthermore there must be a distance between the flanges, corresponding
to the face-to-face dimensions of the butterfly valve.

The butterfly valve can be mounted in any direction. However if there are
a lot of dirt particles on the bottom of the pipe, it will be suitable to mount
the stem of the butterfly valve horizontally. This will protect the pivot point
of the disc.

Before commissioning, the pipework has to be rinsed out to remove dirt

and remnants of welding material, to avoid damage on the liner. During the
rinsing procedure, the butterfly valve has to be positioned as open and may
not be operated, before the rinsing has been completed.

Welding operations may not be performed nearby the butterfly valve, as

welding drops can damage the liner.

Do not use gaskets. The liner works as sealing to the atmosphere.

Where vacuum, high flow rate or water hammering can occur, flanges with-
out a loose collar should be used, to obtain the best conditions.

Carefully place the butterfly Check that the flange covers Carefully open and close the valve to check
