There are PDU models with 5 or 10 outputs, each output providing 5A normally but protected by a 10A circuit breaker. PDUs are used redundantly to ensure complete power supply redundancy to subrack cabinets and have associated mounting kits.

    6.3 PDU
    The Power Distribution Unit is an optional unit required if “high
    Ohmic” -48V distribution is not available.
    The PDU branches one incoming -48V distribution cable into 5 or 10
    outgoing cables and converts a possibly “low Ohmic” electrical
    interface to a “High Ohmic” interface.
    There are two types of PDU:
    • with 5 outputs (Figure 6-3) and;
    • with 10 outputs (Figure 6-4).
    Every single output provide 5A normally but each output is protected
    by a 10AMAX automatic circuit breaker.

    PDU is normally used in redundant version, this to ensure the


    completely redundancy of the power supply to the subrack located
    cabinet.
