6.3 PDU
The Power Distribution Unit is an optional unit required if “high
Ohmic” -48V distribution is not available.
The PDU branches one incoming -48V distribution cable into 5 or 10
outgoing cables and converts a possibly “low Ohmic” electrical
interface to a “High Ohmic” interface.
There are two types of PDU:
• with 5 outputs (Figure 6-3) and;
• with 10 outputs (Figure 6-4).
Every single output provide 5A normally but each output is protected
by a 10AMAX automatic circuit breaker.

PDU is normally used in redundant version, this to ensure the


completely redundancy of the power supply to the subrack located
cabinet.

associated to the PDUs.
