CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research design, the research process, sources of data,

parts of the action plan and ethical considerations.

Research Design

Narrative method of qualitative research is use in this study. The study aims to

investigate on why do the Senior High School graduates cannot get a job easily after

commencement. This is applicable in this study since it is subjective and descriptive to

determine the responses of the several students who didn’t get a job after graduating

Senior High School, DepEd officials, and employers of the company.

Narrative design is a literary form of qualitative research, qualitative method of

collecting and telling stories from a person's life. Biography is a narrative study where the

researcher gathers information, writes and records the experiences of another's life

(Meeks,2015). This approach is appropriate since it uses qualitative research techniques

such as interview and observation of the experiences of the respondents.

However, this study aims to understand about the struggles of the Senior High School

graduates on finding a job.

Sources of Data

Locale and Population of the Study

The study will be conducted at Pagadian City and researchers will gather the data

at 10 different Senior High School in Pagadian City through interview and purposive

sampling. Purposive sampling is also known as judgmental, or subjective sampling in

which researchers rely on their own judgment when choosing participant in the study.
The population of this study was composed of 10 respondents , 5 from the Senior

High School graduates of Pagadian City Division, 3 from the DepEd officials, and 2

employers in Pagadian City. The researchers influence individuals that can be distinguish

and approached with little effort as possible. This is often accomplished by applying export

knowledge of the population to select in a nonrandom manner a sample of element that

represent a cross-selection of the population.

Validity of the interview questions

The interview question will be validated by the English experts to fully assure the

validity of the question that will be use during the interview. The validators are the teachers

with expertise in English.

Instrumentation and Data Collection

In this study, the researchers will create a questionnaire that can open the mind of

the respondents in this matter. The primary data in this study will be collected from the

Senior High School graduates, several companies and DepEd Officials as regards to the

Employment Struggles of Senior High School graduates. Also, the interview is conducted

by the researchers. The researcher will also use a voice recorder to record the

conversation between the researcher and the respondents. The researcher will jot down

some important information from the respondents to easily facilitates the recording of

information.

Tools for data analysis

The data that will be gather will be submit to interpretation. The interview analysis

were use in order to get the response of the respondents who were interviewed.

Ethical Considerations
The researchers strictly observed the following in order to develop and protect

morality in conducting this study:

Giving proper acknowledgement or credit to the owner in order to avoid plagiarism.

The researchers honor patents, copyright, and other forms of intellectual properties

The data provided by the respondents is confidential in any aspects in this study. In

order to keep it confidential, the researchers protect the respondents’ personal

information.

The researchers are open to criticism and new ideas in conducting this study.

1. Where did you study and what strand did you took up?

2. Why does senior high school graduates cannot get a job?

3. What are the standards of being an employee?

4. What are the requirements for Senior High School graduates for them to get a

decent job?

5. What is the used of K-12 program if the Senior High School graduates cannot get

a decent job?

6. Is it necessary that all of your employees should have a masters degree?

7. What if the Senior High School graduates has NCII, is there any possibility that

you will hire them as your employee?

8. Are you capable enough to be hired in a decent job? Why?

9. As a Senior High School graduate, have you ever tried to have an interview for a

job? What is their feedback to you?

10. Why is it important to enter Senior High School?
