of Grade 12 Students in Inquiries, Investigation and Immersion Subject

CHAPTER 3

Research Methodology

This section contains the research methodology employed in the study. This includes the

research method used, the materials in making the questionnaire and the data gathering

procedure.

Research Design

This study will use descriptive research design in order to test the hypothesis and

systematically analyze the data about the perceived effect of internet connection to academic

performance of Grade 12 students in Inquiries, Investigation and Immersion. According to Dr.

Dela Cruz and Dr. Silverio (2019) Descriptive Research Design of research illustrates present

characteristics, conditions, images, and the like based on impressions, perceptions or reactions

of the respondents. Descriptive research is used to describe the characteristics of a population

or phenomena being studied. Itcan either be quantitative or qualitative.

Locale of the Study


This study will be conducted in the premises of Passi National High School, especifically in

Senior High School Department. PNHS is located at Dorillo St., Passi City, Iloilo. This study will be

conducted for the S.Y. 2021-2022.

Respondents

The researcher will randomly select 50 Grade 12 students of Passi National High School

to answer the survey questionnaires. The respondents will answer the questionnaire

individually, honestly and with valid information.

Data Gathering

A. Research Instrument

The researcher will use survey questionnaire in this study in order to collect facts and

opinions of the respondents about the study because the researcher wanted to know the

perceived effect of internet connection to the academic performance of the students. The

questionnaire made by researcher consist of three parts: the first part will be the demographic

profile of respondents; second part will determine the perception of the students in internet

access to their place regarding their academic performance in Inquiries, Investigation and

Immersion Subject.

Questionnaire is used to collect data needed for the researcher’s investigation to determine the

effects and benefits of Internet to the academic achievements of the students. The 50 randomly

selected grade 12 students is the respondents to be the sample in this study based on the
knowledge of the respondents to supply the needed data for the purpose of this study. They

will be given a questionnaire to fill up and will be accompanied with the researchers.

B. Gathering of Data

In gathering all the data needed in this research, the first step is to validate the research

questionnaire. Three (3) experts from the field were tapped to validate the questions. After

which, the researcher secured permission letter from the Principal of PNHS Senior High School.

The advisers of each and every section helped in administering the questionnaire and in the

retrieval.

The researcher will collect the accomplished questionnaire from the advisers within a

day after administering it.

Statistical Data Analysis

The statistical tools that the researcher will use in this study will be the following: Mean

and Chi-Square (X2) formula. This also includes the scaling system, which is used by the

researchers as a technique to monitor the interpretation of respondent’s grades in the

Inquiries, Investigation and Immersion Subject.

Scale Interpretation

95-99 Above Average

90-94 Average
85-89 Below Average

80-84. Poor

With the assistance of the thesis adviser in the analysis and interpretation of data, the

researcher after collecting the data will utilize the computer programming called the SPSS.
