Introduction
The title of this S.B.A is to investigate the height of the girls and boys in form 4. The
researcher’s objectives of this S.B.A are :1. To find out the average height of the boys and girls
in form 4, 2. To compare the height of the boys against girls,3. To compare the highest height of
the boys and girls. According to Wikipedia “During puberty your body tends to grow faster than
at any other time in your life. On average, girls commence puberty around ages 10 to 11 and end
puberty around 15 to 17 years old while boys start puberty around age 11 to 12 and end around
16 to 17 years of age.” And also, during puberty it is said that boys grow at least 10.3 cm a year
and girls grow 9 cm a year. The reason for doing this topic is that the researcher recently saw that
the girls and boys of form 4 have a huge height difference when these students were younger the
girls tend to be a little taller than the boys which the researcher had found interesting to
investigate the height difference. This research was carried out with the boys and girls of form 4
at Bygeval Secondary consisting of 125 students but only 30 were chosen using selected sample.
The method of measurement was used where a measuring tape was placed align to the floor and
the student height was measured and recorded. The type of data that was collected were
qualitative.
Method of data collection
The researcher’s objectives of this S.B.A are :1. To find out the average height of the boys and
girls in form 4, 2. To compare the height of the boys against girls,3. To compare the highest
height of the boys and girls. The type of data that was collected were qualitative data. The
method in which data was gathered was by using the method of measurement. Measurement is
the assignment of a number to a characteristic of an object, which can be compared with another
object. This study was done at Bygeval Secondary with the students of form 4.the population of
form 4 is 125 students, from this a sample 30 student were chosen to participate in this research.
By using a measuring tape that was placed on level ground and was raised above the head of the
person, a ruler was then placed on the head of the person and the height was recorded. A letter
was sent to the H.M to seek permission for this research to be carried out in the school.

Analysis of data
From the survey conducted with the students of form 4, three tables were formed to present the
height of boys, the height of girls and the average height of boys and girls.
From the bar graph which shows the height of girls which displays the height along with the
frequency. Each bar represents the height of the students along with the frequency .the minimum
height of the girls is 149 centimeters which had a frequency of 2 persons and the amxixmum
height was 176 centimeters and had a frequency of 4 persons The height which appears the most
or the most frequent height is 158 centimeters and the height that appears the least is 164
centimeters.
The column graph displays the height of the boys, where as each column represents the height of
the boys. From this graph it could be seen that the minimum height of the boys was 155 which
had a frequency of 3 persons and the maximum frequency is 179 centimeters which only one
boy had. The height which had apper the most is 173 centimeters which had a frequency of 7
persons and the height that appear the least is 179 centimeters which is the maximum height.
On the pie chart which was used to compare the average height between the boys and girls, it
could be seen that the average height of the boys was gave a average of 167 centimeters (53%)
and the average height of the girls was 151.033 centimeters which was rounded down to 151
centimeters (47%).
