Knights Fine Arts All State Winners!!


On Monday Night, the FISD School Board recognized
all of the Frisco ISD All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra
Inspire to Learn. members at its monthly meeting. Independence High School
had 7 of FISD’s 56 All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra
Empower to Excel. members. Congratulations to these students and their
directors on this monumental accomplishment!

Frisco Independence FFA members had the
opportunity to tour our State Capitol and learn about
our government. Go Knights!

Knights Color Guard


The Knights JV Winter guard earned a 3rd place finish in Regional
A with a 73.240 at NTCA Haltom. Their score earned them
an advancement up a class to Scholastic AA. Go Knights!

Knights Orchestra
Knights Orchestra went to the annual UIL Concert and Sight-Reading
Evaluation last week, and each group did very well!

The Concert Orchestra received a superior rating on stage and an


excellent rating in sight-reading
The Sinfonia Orchestra received a superior rating on stage and a
superior rating in sight-reading
The Philharmonic Orchestra received a superior rating on stage and a superior
rating in sight-reading
The Full Symphony Orchestra received a superior rating on stage and a superior
rating in sight-reading

This year is especially exciting because it is the first year that IHS
has taken a Full Orchestra to UIL. This means that the band and
orchestra collaborated together to go to UIL. The students worked very
hard and put on a very special concert last Friday!

Knights Art

The Independence HS Art Department had an amazing group of


students participate at this year’s 10N Regional VASE (Visual Art Scholas-
tic Event).
The event saw almost 2100 student art entries from the 10N region com-
pete.
Only 168 of these entries advanced to compete at the state level.
We are very proud to announce… We have 26 IHS students going to
State!

Girls placed 3rd at The District Preview! Freshman, Zoee
Sanchez finished T-10 individually Boys placed 2nd at Robson
Ranch Invitational. The first day they broke the school record with a
team score of 293 and Alex Kopenhaver broke the individual
record with a 66! Go Knights!

Seniors and Parents,

Six Flags contacted us today and our final Senior ticket count is due
this Monday, March 9th. It is extremely important if your Senior
wants to attend Six Flags that their $125 Senior dues are paid. This
will be our final count - we will not be purchasing extra tickets
because Six Flags doesn’t give a refund on unused tickets. So, if your
Senior wants to attend, their dues need to be paid No later
than Sunday, March 8th, by midnight or they cannot go with the
class.
