 Before we headed to our topic for today, let’s have a quick recap of what we have recently tackled

B. Motivation:

The students will be group into Four (4) and will be given jumbled letters, they need to figure out what word
it is which will also be serve as today’s topic, the group who can solve first will be the winner and will also
get small reward.

2. ANALYSIS

Those answers you stated are related to our topic for today which is the Device Drivers.
Drivers - are small software programs that help the operating system use or “drive” the device. One best
example is when you we are still babies or young ones, we cannot walk or stands by ourselves we need to be
holed by our parents or to be put on a walker for us to walk, we ourselves are the computer, our feet is the
hardware, and the walker is the driver that drives us to walk, another example is when we first started to ride a
bike, remember those side wheels which helps us to stay balanced? That side wheels are the drivers.

Device Manager

It is a program in our computer where we can see all hardware that are connected to it, it is also helps us to
identify whether there are drivers missing or if we need to update them. We can also check the hardware
manufacturer of the hardware device connected to our computer.
How to open the Device Manager and checking the device driver manufacturer?
There are THREE ways on how to update or install drivers.

1. CD Installation – Most computer manufacturers includes cd installer of drivers for our computer or laptop when
buying it brand new.
2. Downloading directly from the Device manufacturers website – This process is not recommended because
installing wrong driver can cause malfunction of your device. Just go to the manufacturers website and look for
the exact name of the device you are looking for then download it, the file usually comes in .zip file, just extract
the file and install the driver, it might take several minutes depending on the size and hardware specification.
3. Device Manager – The best and safest way to update drivers.
How and when to Update Device Driver?

The best, the fastest, and the safest way to update the driver of a computer is thru Device Manager, ways on how to
update drivers are as follows:

1. On the device manager, double click on the device you wanted to update the driver. Click “Driver” and then click
“Update Driver”
2. Click “Search Automatically for updated driver software”.

3. Wait for a few minutes for your driver to be updated. Note. Computer needs to be connected to the internet to
be able to do so.

You can regularly check if there’s new update available thru Device Manager, though there some instance that the new
update has bugs and cause conflict and malfunction on the system. If so, you can easily roll back to the previous version
of the driver.

driver, starting from entering Device Manager up to last step, the group who can finish with the fastest time
