Note:
The smt_icon now uses a new version of Visual studio to compile. To be able to run this on Windows XP /
Windows server 2003, you mandatory need to install the vcredist_x86.exe, available in the SMT install folder.
This installation is not needed on Windows 7 32bits. Il you have a 64bits operations system, install
vcredist_x64.exe available also in the SMT install folder (VCRedist 2010 folder) – see § 8.

In order to benefit from the main evolutions and fixed anomalies, do the following actions with the SCE:
- open and convert the previous configuration data base,
- make a SBUS Automatic Addressing from Ethernet network item,
- regenerated the database
Then download the new databag to the equipments (GTW, C264) via the SMT. Download also the new Micom
S1 PACiS setting files associated.
7. Anomalies
7.2.1.1. GTW-PC
CONFIDENTIAL. All rights reserved SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC. Passing on and copying of this document, use and communication of its contents are not permitted without prior written authorization.
DNP3 Master is included into this release, but it is not yet integrated. This function shall not be used.
GATEWAY Redundant:
It must be mandatory to transmit symetrical GTW system Datapoints from GTW main and GTW backup on
IEC or on SCADA protocol. For example if Datapoints 'Operating Mode' of GTW main is transmitted, you're
obliged to transmit also 'Operating Mode' of GTW backup.
On the following test rig, which involves a GTW as OPC Client and another GTW as OPC Server as well as a
GTW as IEC 61850 Client, it has been noticed a few restrictions. Depending the device used on site (as OPC
client or server), those limitations may apply or not. Additional limitations/behavior may not seen during our
tests may also happen.
== TEST RIG ==

== OPERATION ==
DO NOT install on 64 bits OS. “vcredistx86_2010” should also be installed on 64 bits machine but it
isn’t. As a result, 32 bits programs (SBUS.exe) won’t run. Install manually the vcredist or don’t use a 64
bits machine.
For External Fault Reports still opened, use DevTrack Tool, or contact Schneider Electric / Energy Business /
Automation / Customer Satisfaction & Quality / Customer Technical Support - ACS.
8.1. HELPS
CONFIDENTIAL. All rights reserved SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC. Passing on and copying of this document, use and communication of its contents are not permitted without prior written authorization.
Project file produced with older version of HELPS can be open but will not be complete (miss xPC script).
Structure of the model files provided with HELPS have changed so if some models were modified by user to
match its configuration, those one will not work with new HELPS for the xPC scripts.
Limitation of HELPS when in Embedded mode on redundant Gateways to 1 line at a time. In all other cases
(External mode and Embedded mode without Gateway redundancy), it can simulate more than one line at a
time.
8.2. GATEWAY
Logging user to be used for Gateway is “Administrator” this for installation and Gateway user account.
CONFIDENTIAL. All rights reserved SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC. Passing on and copying of this document, use and communication of its contents are not permitted without prior written authorization.
Windows 7 drivers:
Under certain circumstances, with rather “heavy” loads, printing messages to DebugView is known to modify the
dynamics of the GTW. If GTW starts to reboot, switch to maintenance, or any other weird behaviors WHILE
DebugView is in use, it is recommended to filter out unwanted logging messages. We recommend using the
following filter in order to not log “noisy” useless information (in “exclude”):
heart;heard;beat;heartbit;ipnet*success;hwsetdo;checkdistate
8.2.5. Windows Registry Database entries for GTW Master Modbus protocol
Since FR25443, 2 new entries have been added in Windows registry database. Those 2 entries define the expected
polling timing for both SPS and MV. The new keys are
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PROTOCOL\MODBUSMASTERxx\TS_POLLING_PERIOD
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PROTOCOL\MODBUSMASTERxx\TM_POLLING_PERIOD
Note: “TM” stands for “MV” (Analogue Input) and “TS” stands for “SPS” (Digital Input).
The values are tenth of the required value (e.g. “100” means “1000 ms”) and are expressed in ms.
Given the above numbers, GTW will try its best to poll SPS every 300 ms and MV every 1000 ms.
It is to be noted that it is highly hardware and software configuration dependant. For information, when used on a
serial Modbus link at 19200 bits/s with 1 IED with 2500 MV + 2500 SPS, SPS WON’T be polled every 300 ms
(technically unreachable) but will be more likely to be in the average range 450 – 600 ms.
Again, the value set doesn’t mean the GTW will poll based on those times BUT will try to reach those value,
according hardware (serial? TCP?), configuration (number of data points …), etc.
It is advised to test the timing on a given test rig before sending the numbers to customers.
As of today, our testing didn’t show any malfunctions when those timing are set with a too low number for which
the GTW can’t poll fast enough.
GENERALITY:
The former synchronization mechanism (pre- GTW V9.6.16) was using ODTimeSrv from Agency package.
From now on (actually, from GTW V9.6.16, but version prior GTW V9.6.20 were partially bugged), a new
synchronization mechanism is taking place using an “engine” installed during Gateway installation.
Amongst other files, it’ll use SNTP.EXE (server) and SNTPClient.EXE (client) to synchronize SBUS whenever a
CONFIDENTIAL. All rights reserved SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC. Passing on and copying of this document, use and communication of its contents are not permitted without prior written authorization.
Gateway is set as a “time provider”. In that case, the former ODTimeSrv will be stopped by SNTP processes when
they are started – i.e. when Gateway starts.
When updating a former version to GTW V9.6.20 and higher, it is MANDATORY to rebuild the database using the
SCE 5.11.01 or higher. It is also mandatory to use C264 B9.08 or higher if GTW is to be set as a time provider.
A file named Synch_Timer.ini located in the Gateway root directory contains several parameters which could be
manually edited to match the pace at which SCADA is sending synchronization frame.
This file contains parameters used by each time providers (i.e. “SCADA” and “SBUS”) to configure time frame
delay reception.
It must be edited manually if any change is required; the Gateway software must be restarted in order for the
parameter to be taken into account.
