Dear Mr. Clayton Ressler & Mr. Michael Gibson,

My name is Parker Bijl and I have the amazing opportunity of joining your community at Kate
Andrews High School. I am very excited to spend the next six weeks learning from you all and
growing in my teaching ability. I currently am completing a B.A. in Kinesiology at the
University of Lethbridge, have both my Mental Health and CPR First Aid certification and six
years of experience coaching children from junior high to high school in football and Track &
Field. Also, I will be completing my B.Ed. in Spring 2021.

Throughout my life I have come across multiple opportunities to work with a diverse group of
people from different personal and educational backgrounds. My volunteer and work experience
have focused primarily on childcare since I can remember. I have been a camp counselor at a
variety of institutions, such as Panorama Community Centre and Injanation for the past four
years and had the pleasure of volunteering at a RockRidge summer camp in British Columbia for
a couple months periodically since high school. Since entering university in 2015, I have had the
pleasure of working in the residence community on campus as a Resident Assistant and Vice
President of returning students through the Organization of Residence Students. Being a part of
this group provided me with an amazing opportunity to develop my leadership skills as I was
responsible for over 300 students. This experience has allowed me to help foster an engaging and
inclusive community throughout the residence buildings where the students live with the hopes
of bringing a variety of different individuals together. These skills that I was able to develop will
help me in the classroom as I have learned what it takes to create an inclusive and welcoming
community, which I am eager to do in my practicum.

On a personal note, I like engaging in any type of sports I can get my hands on. I grew up loving
football, lacrosse, and volleyball, which I have had the pleasure of coaching all three. In my
spare time Netflix is my go-to for watching Friends or This is Us. My family is incredible, and I
have three younger siblings (2 brother and 1 sister) who I love dearly. Also, I have two wild
puppies named Boston and Griffin, which makes for an energetic household.

I look forward to bringing my educational experience, enthusiasm, and creativity to your

classroom. I’m eager to learn how to become a well-rounded and knowledgeable teacher and I
hope to make a positive contribution to your amazing community.

Sincerely,

Parker Bijl
