Objective:

To find the mechanical advantage, velocity ratio and efficiency of a second system
of pulleys.
Problem:
To demonstrate the working of second system of pulleys and analyze mechanical
advantage, velocity ratio and efficiency of the second system of pulleys.

Methodology:
A second system of pulleys will be constructed with the help of wheels, upper &
lower blocks and ropes. The analysis of the experimental values of load and effort
will be performed to calculate the mechanical advantage and velocity ratio.
Observations and Calculations:
Let,
Weight (Load) attached to the lower block = W.
Effort applied = P
Distance moved by load = x.
Distance moved by effort = x*n
Where, n is the number of pulleys.
Thus,

x∗n
Velocity Ratio (V.R) = X = n

W
Mechanical Advantage (M.A) = P

And,
M.A
Percent Efficiency = % ղ = V . R ∗100 %

Conclusion:
The second system of pulleys will be constructed and the mechanical advantage as
well as the velocity ratio was observed experimentally and finally its efficiency
will be calculated.
