REACTION PAPER
“Buhos: A Climate Change Documentary”

If there’s one thing I learned about this documentary, it’s about us, being the culprit of all
environmental changes we are experiencing right now. Human race is so powerful that we have
the choice to make or break everything around us. Typhoons, floods, and other environmental
disasters is the consequences of all human activities we implement to survive.

“Is it a good thing that we innovate? Is it worth it to embrace digital flat forms and
technological advancement?”

Those are the questions that keep lingering in my mind upon watching this video because as I
can see, innovation started it all. We depend heavily on technology without realizing that little by
little we are sacrificing the beautiful place we are living in. Technology introduced us into a
modern world. It has its fair share of benefits but talking about the bigger picture, isn’t its
drawbacks more than its advantages? Instead of planting trees to develop our rain forest, we
choose to plant industrial establishment. All are being commercialized. All are into equipment
and machineries thus forgetting the natural way of living. Now, the Earth are charging us for all
damages. Pollutions, climate change and global warming are coming to us without further notice.
This frightens me with the thought of how about the next and the following generations after me?
But as Loren Legarda said “May magagawa tayo, sa ngalan ng isang ligtas at magandang
hinaharap!” –we can change and restore it of how it was supposed to be. This documentary
serves as an eye-opener not only for every Filipinos but for everyone around the world to start
caring and do something for our Mother Earth. Simple act of kindness can mean everything if the
intention is about love and care for our nature. We alone are responsible to make it happen. For
our benefit and for all the generations after us.
