DO MAINTENANCE WORK, REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL WIRING,
COMPONENTS AND THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DO THIS:

I. GENERAL
(a) For circuit breaker safety practices, refer to AMM Task 20-16-00-912-001.
(b) For the Frame (FR) identification, refer to AMM 06-31-53, Page Block 001.
(c) For the identification of zones, refer to AMM 06-20-00, Page Block 001.
(d) For the identification of access panels, refer to AMM 06-41-52, Page Block 001 and AMM 06-41-53, Page
Block 001.
(e) For the wires and electrical bundle identification, refer to ESPM 20-32-20.
(f) For the general installation of electrical wire harnesses, refer to ESPM 20-33-00.
(h) For the installation of stow wire, refer to ESPM 20-42-13 and ESPM 20-54-55.
(k) Do a check of the electrical connectors before you connect them, refer to ESPM 20-52-10.

(l) To install new wires, cut them to the necessary length, crimp the terminals and connect them.
(m) Route the new wire with the wires that are in the aircraft.
(n) Use existing spare conduits to route wires in locations with difficult access.
(o) For the cable tie application and tooling, refer to ESPM 20-33-44 and ESPM 20-56-51.
(p) For the protection of the connectors, contacts and terminals, refer to ESPM 20-54-50.
(q) Do a continuity test of the new and/or modified electrical wires, refer to ESPM 20-52-21.
(r) For the torque procedure of the electrical and mechanical connections, refer to ESPM 20-51-50.
(s) To torque tighten the electrical component fasteners, refer to AMM Task 20-21-15-912-001.
(u) For the locking procedure of the connectors, refer to ESPM 20-51-12.
(v) For the locking procedure of terminal blocks, refer to ESPM 20-51-15.
(w) For the installation of the shrink sleeves, refer to ESPM 20-42-12.
(x) For the electrical bonding procedure, refer to AMM Task 20-28-00-912-004 and ESPM 20-51-21.
(y) For the torque procedure of bonding lead screw, refer to ESPM 20-51-50.
(aa) For the table of maximum permitted resistance value, refer to AMM Task 20-28-00-869-002.
(ac) Tag the parts that you must remove and retain to make the subsequent installation easier.
(ad) Put all the retained hardware in identified plastic bags and attach the bags to the related unit.
(ae) For the installation of placards, refer to AMM 11-00-00, Page Block 201.
(af) To torque tighten the standard threaded fasteners, refer to AMM Task 20-21-11-911-001.
(ah) Obtain fastener hole diameters and drill data in accordance with SRM 51-44-00.
(ai) Obtain alternative and substitute fastener data in accordance with SRM 51-43-00.
(aj) If the length of any fastener specified in this Service Bulletin does not meet installation standards given in
SRM Chapter 51, then a fastener of the same specification, or an approved substitute, with a length which

meets the installation standards given in SRM Chapter 51 may be used. In addition, washers may be
installed for fastener grip length in accordance with SRM Chapter 51.

II. PREPARATION
NOTE: The items given in this note shall be considered as the basic Aircraft configuration before you start a
maintenance task:
- Aircraft on the ground resting on landing gear (the ground safety locks and the wheel chocks are in
position on the landing gear)
- Engine shut down, thrust reversers closed and locked
- Aircraft in clean configuration
- Parking brake applied
- Aircraft electrical network de-energized
- Hydraulic systems depressurized
- Access to the cockpit and cabin is available
- All circuit breakers are in closed position
- All controls in NORM, AUTO or OFF position.
(a) Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded, refer to AMM Task 12-34-24-869-002.
(c) Open the FWD cargo-compartment door 825, refer to AMM 06-41-52, Page Block 001 and AMM Task
52-30-00-860-001 or AMM Task 52-30-00-860-003 or AMM Task 52-30-00-860-005.
1 To get access to the connector 1978VC on the RH between FR30 and FR34 or between FR35.6 and
FR35.7 remove the ceiling panel from the FWD cargo compartment, refer to AMM Task
25-54-12-000-002.
(d) Remove the FWD cargo-compartment partitions at Frame 24, refer to AMM 06-41-53, Page Block 001
and AMM Task 25-54-11-000-001.
(e) Open the AFT cargo-compartment door 826, refer to AMM 06-41-52, Page Block 001 and AMM Task
52-30-00-860-001 or AMM Task 52-30-00-860-003 or AMM Task 52-30-00-860-005.

1 To get access to the connector 7615VC on the RH at FR47 remove the floor panel from the AFT
cargo-compartment, refer to AMM Task 53-42-14-000-001.
(a) Make sure that the external connector(s) is (are) not connected to the aircraft receptacle(s) EXT PW.
(b) Put the warning notices in position on external power receptacle to tell persons not to connect an external
power source.
(c) Make sure that the EMER EXIT LT pushbutton switch on 25VU is on OFF position.
(d) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel 35VU release BAT pushbutton switches.
(e) Put a warning notices on panel 35VU to tell persons not to operate the batteries.
(f) Put a warning notices on refuel/defuel panel 800VU to tell persons not to operate the NORMAL
BATTERY switch.
(g) Put a warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(h) Put a warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the ENG1,2.
1 For job set-up, refer to the removal of the batteries, refer to AMM Task 24-38-51-000-001.
2 Turn the knurled nut a quarter turn.
3 Disconnect the connectors.

IV. TEST
1 Battery re-connection:
a For job set-up, refer to the installation of the batteries, refer to AMM Task 24-38-51-400-001.
b Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connectors.
c Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in correct condition.
d Connect the connector on the battery.
e Turn the knurled nut a quarter turn.
5 Voltage check:
a Do a voltage check at pin 1 of each following circuit breaker to make sure that there is 26VAC:
- 121VU: 95CE.
(2) Testing for the Modification of the Equipment and the Wiring in the rear C/B 121VU Panel and for the
Modification of the Wiring between the Cockpit and the Avionics Compartment
NOTE: If the aircraft is operated in CAT 3 conditions, you must also do the Land CAT 3 Capability Test,
refer to AMM Task 22-97-00-710-001.
1 Do the operational test of the instrument and panel integral lighting, refer to AMM Task
33-13-00-710-001.
