Detection Unit: Air coming from each of the holds is pulled into
the detection unit, shown in the two following photos. The unit
is capable of having a maximum of 20 lines. Each 3/4 inch line
enters with a transparent section of pipe in the unit provided
for each line to allow visual recognition of smoke for each line
from the holds.
Additionally, each transparent section is fitted with a light (LED)
to facilitate observation of smoke even under poor room lighting.
There is also a floating ball in the air stream of each transparent
tube to confirm the flow for each line.
Inside the unit is a series of baffles to distribute the air or smoke
as the flow enters the detection chamber. This chamber has two
ionization detectors to detect the smoke. The air is then pulled 006921

The fan control unit, two photos below, provides the overall

required test features and provides the switches to change the
fan in use or to turn the system off.
