12.1.0.1 GENERAL (SYMBOLS)


For easy identification of the different measurements in the phase we
use the symbols, shown below. For the vision- and noise-tests easy
YES/NO decisions are to be made by the mechanics. The other
symbols mean manual activities. Where preventive maintenance is to
be done by means of special Service components (for example grease
or oil), the below symbols are to be applied.

12.1.0.2 SAFETY MEASUREMENTS PREPARATION- AND FINAL WORK


(Knowledge of the general accident safety rules and regulations
are to be taken for granted)
1. Preparation work
1. Stop escalator via stopping button on one of the landings.
2. Block the landings.
3. Open landings with tooling GAA 27 BW1.
4. Switch off main switch ( with lock secure)
(for intermittend operation, operate in addition the maintenance switch "S30")
5. Take off the controller.
6. Remove blind plug on the revision plug adapter at the controller resp.
terminal block in the lower landing.
7. Connect revision control.

Remark to 5.:
A lifting device from Otis factory Stadthagen under the tooling no. 26201 M1
can be obtained.

2. Final work
1. Remove revision control and plug in blind plug.
2. Lift controller in the landing (for intermittend operation, operate in addition
the maintenance switch "S30").
3. Switch on main switch. (remove lock)
4. Close landing.
5. Take off blocking on landing.
6. Set escalator via key switch in operation.

12.1.0.3 Acting during emergency cases

1. Press stop button on one of the two landings.


2. If passengers are injured, make emergency call and call for help.
3. Block escalator on the upper and lower landing.
4. Open upper landing and

turn off main switch !

In emergency cases the step band can be moved by hand with a supplied handwheel.

For this the following is to be done:

1. Release screws on the ventilator cover and take off the cover (1).
2. Set the handwheel (2) on the motor shaft.
3. Release brake through operating lever (3).
4. Run pallet band by turning the handwheel (2) in the requested direction.
5. Release brake lever (3).
6. Take off handwheel (2) and erect ventilator cover (1).

Start operation only after removal of possible damages through experts

3. Examination of comb plate safety device on function at


the upper landing (test interval C)

1. In access direction of landing turn out the left fastening


screw on the left comb resp. the right one on the
right comb.

2. Screw in a ring eye screw M6 on this point and lift the


comb upwards by means of an hook.

A special tooling (comb tooling) - which will be applied


underneath the comb - can also be obtained from the
Otis factory Stadthagen

3. Start escalator via key switch (upper landing in up- and lower
landing in down-direction)

Escalator must not start

4. Mount again fastening screw and set the escalator again in


operation.

Escalator must start

5. Set escalator via stop button out of function.

6 Examination of handrail entry device in the upper landing

1. Press handrail entry device (front cover) on handrail entry box.


2. Set escalator into operation via key switch.

9. Clean newel bow on both sides (test interval C)

1. Disassembly the inner side from entry box.


2. Take off handrail in the range of newel bow by means of installation hook.
3. Remove wear and dust with brush and vacuum cleaner.
4. Draw up handrail with installation hook.
5. Assembly entry box.

10. Clean handrail (not part of contract)

Do not move handrail during cleaning

1. Apply cleaner (undiluted) with a soft cloth or sponge and let


it react for 10 minutes.
2. Rub off the handrail with humid cloth or sponge and use warm
water afterwards.
3. Mark cleaned handrail.
4. Put escalator in operation on operating panel via key switch
and set marked part in return run.
5. Put escalator out of function via stop button.
6. Clean handrails as mentioned under points 10.1 - 10.2.

11. Sealing of handrail (not part of contract)

The cleaned handrail is to be sealed using the products being


recommended by the manufacturer.
From Semperit: Cleaner No. 250
Sealing No. 150
From EHC (Escalator Handrail Company): Cleaner and Sealing

- Remove dust and clean with a soft, possibly lightly humid cloth.
- Apply varnish cleaner with a soft cloth.

Use no means which possibly remove material. The applied

1. Test thread bar for the pressure springs as well as the sliding
surfaces of tension carriage on condition on both sides.
2. Test pressure springs on condition, adjustment and tight
fitting of nuts.

Adjusting dimension pressure spring = 102-1 mm

3. Clean sliding surfaces and consider environmental regulations


for the old oil.
4. Apply grease on sliding surfaces.

3. Let rotate step band 1,5 times and pay attention to unusual
noises as well as running qualities on:

- step band

4. Start escalator in opposite running direction and repeat test
(check on the upper and lower landing).
5. Close landings.

6. Test the five threaded rods on tight fitting and adjustment dimension.
7. Test the movability of switch shaft by turning it back- and forward.

9. Examination of linear belt handrail drive system on both sides in the area of
the upper landing (test intervall D)

1. Turn on main switch and turn off circuit breaker (lower landing).

2. Remove blind plug on the junction box and connect revision control.

3. Remove of 5 steps.
- Remove step guard
- Lift safety bolt by means of step lifting device on the first step
- Shift sliding bushes to the centre of axle (each left and right step side)
- Marc steps and stepaxle and take out steps
- Turn on control switch
- Run step band by one step
- Turn off circuit breaker
- Remove 2nd to 5th step as described

4. Turn on circuit breaker and run step band to the area of handrail drive.

5. Remove revision control in the lower landing and plug in control on the
controller in the upper landing. Replace blind plug in the lower landing.

6. Dismantling of inner decking (straight) on both sides.


- Turn off main switch
- Remove fastening screws M4 on the incline
- Take out inner decking of the clip holder and pull out of the plastic profile
- If step band lighting available, disconnect electric coupling on both sides
(use tooling 5385 against slipping)
- Put inner decking on a protected place

7. Dismantling of skirt panel (straight) on both sides.


- Loose connection screws
- Take out skirt panel and put it on a protected place

10. Examination of traction wheel drive system


on both sides in the area of the upper landing (test intervall D)

1. Turn on main switch and turn off circuit breaker (lower landing).

2. Remove blind plug on the junction box and connect revision control.

3. Remove of 5 steps.
- Remove step guard
- Lift safety bolt by means of step lifting device on the first step

1. This lubrication plan only applies to inside-installed escalators. For weatherproofed escalators the maintenance
interval must be cut in two (except pos. M).
2. If the escalator will not be set in operation immediately after erection, oil no. 39 is to be applied to the chains
every 3 months (15 min., during escalator run).
