General Instructions:
1. All the questions are compulsory.
2. The questions paper consists of 30 questions divided into 4 sections A, B, C and D.
3. Section A comprises of 6 questions of 1 mark each. Section B comprises of 6 questions of 2 marks each.
Section C comprises of 10 questions of 3 marks each. Section D comprises of 8 questions of4 marks each.
4. There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in two questions of 1 mark each,
two questions of 2 marks each, four questions of 3 marks each and three questions of 4 marks each. You have to
attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.
5. Use of calculators is not permitted.

SECTION – A
(Questions 1 to 6 carry 1 mark each)

1. Find the value of a, if the distance between the points A(-3, -14) and B(a, -5) is 9 units

A(5,1), B(1,5) and C(-3, -1) are the vertices of ∆ABC. Find the length of median AD.

circle.

13. Use Euclid’s Division Algorithm to find the HCF of 726 and 275.

The area of a triangle is 5 sq. units. Two of its vertices are (2, 1) and (3, -2). If the third vertex is (2, y),
find the value(s) of y.

18. Two different dice are thrown together. Find the probability that the numbers obtained (i) have a sum
less than 5 (ii) have a product less than 6 (iii) is a doublet of even numbers.

19. A top is shaped like a cone surmounted by a hemisphere. The entire top is 7 cm in height and the

diameter of the top is 6 cm. If a child wants to colour the top, find the area he has to colour. (Use = 7 ).

20. Two tangents TP and TQ are drawn to a circle with centre O from an external point T. Prove that∠PTQ = 2
∠OPQ.

In the given figure, AC and AD are tangents to a circle with centre O ,


at C and D respectively. If∠BCD = 44°, then find ∠CAD, ∠CBD and
∠ACD

21. In a hospital used water is collected in a cylindrical tank of diameter 4 m and height 5 m. After recycling,
this water is used to irrigate a park of hospital whose length is 25 m and breadth is 20 m. If tank is filled
completely then what will be the height of standing water used for irrigating the park.

The radii of internal and external surfaces of a hollow spherical shell are 3 cm and 5 cm respectively. It
is melted and recast into a solid cylinder of diameter 14 cm. Find the height of the cylinder

22. Find the ratio in which the y-axis divides the line segment joining the points (5, -6) and (-1, -4). Also
find the point of intersection

SECTION D
(Questions 23 to 30 carry 4 marks each)

23. On dividing the polynomial 3 x3 + 4 x2 + 5 x – 13 by a polynomial g(x), the quotient and the remainder
were (3x +10) and (16x – 43) respectively. Find g(x).

24. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.

25. From the top of a 60 m high building, the angles of depression of the top and the bottom of a tower are
observed to be 30° and 60° respectively. Find the height of the tower.

The angle of elevation of the top of a tower from certain point is 30°. If the observer moves 20 m
towards the tower, the angle of elevation of the top increased by 15°. Find the height of the tower.

26. A boat goes 30 km upstream and 44 km downstream in 10 hours. In 13 hours, it can go 40 km upstream
and 55 km downstream. Determine the speed of the stream and that of the boat in still water.

2 men and 7 women can do a piece of work in 4 days. It is done by 4 men and 4 women in 3 days. How
long would it take for one man or one woman to do it?

27. Construct a ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 in which BC = 6.5 cm, AB = 4.5 cmand ∠𝐴𝐶𝐵 = 60°. Construct another triangle

similar to ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 such that each side of new triangle is 5 of the corresponding sides of ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶

28. A drinking glass is in the shape of a frustum of a cone of height 14 cm. The diameters of its two circular

ends are 16 cm and 12 cm. Find the capacity and surface area of the glass. (Use 2 = 1.4, 𝜋 = 7 )

29. Draw ‘more than Ogive’ for the following distribution and hence find its median.
