Engaged: How important are photosynthesis and cellular respiration to the

organisms? Explain briefly each process?

Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are connected through an important

relationship. This relationship enables life to survive as we know it. The products of
one process are the reactants of the other. Photosynthesis makes the glucose that
is used in cellular respiration to make ATP. The glucose is then turned back into
carbon dioxide, which is used in photosynthesis. While water is broken down to
form oxygen during photosynthesis, in cellular respiration oxygen is combined with
hydrogen to form water. While photosynthesis requires carbon dioxide and releases
oxygen, cellular respiration requires oxygen and releases carbon dioxide. It is the
released oxygen that is used by us and most other organisms for cellular
respiration. We breathe in that oxygen, which is carried through our blood to all
our cells. In our cells, oxygen allows cellular respiration to proceed. Cellular
respiration works best in the presence of oxygen. Without oxygen, much less ATP
would be produced.

Explore: Make a reflection on the attached readings on “Recovering Plant

Biodiversity.

Earth is a beautiful planet which has given us many things which occur
naturally. Natural resources, rivers, valleys, oceans, different species of animals
and beautiful varieties of plants and trees are among some of these.

In today’s world, we are busy developing our surroundings and

spoiling our beautiful environment. Today, we have exploited most of the
things that were available abundantly in nature. Thus, there arises a need to
conserve these natural things. Among other things, there is a serious need
for the conservation of biodiversity. Conservation of biodiversity is vital for
maintaining the Earth’s environment and sustaining life on the planet. There
are a number of ways in which the richness of biodiversity helps in
maintaining the ecological system. Conservation of biodiversity is important
for the survival of living beings on Earth. Hence, a lot of emphases are being
given on the conservation of biodiversity these days. Recovering plant
biodiversity is really important because we human being need plants to live,
the fresh air that the plants release is really essential for us human being. If
we recover all the destroyed plants in the world then we can surely create a
wonderful environment where every human being is happy because of the
clean environment and the fresh air we breathe in. There are a lot of things
or several ways we can do recover plant diversity. But as a human being the
first step is to really take care of them and do not use this plant for
unnecessary doings. Conservation of biodiversity is of utmost importance.
We must all make efforts to conserve biodiversity rather than contributing
towards its declination. Thus, the richness of biodiversity is essential for the
survival of living beings on Earth.
