3. Complete the dialogues with A / AN.
One of the students chooses a school object in the classroom to describe. The others have to ask and
answer questions to guess what it is. Clues: Is it big? Is it small? Is it red? Is it next to the door?

*Most nouns take -s to form their plural: *Nouns ending in -s, -ss or -x take -es to form their plurals:
Example: There is a teacher in the classroom. There are four desks in the classroom.
2. Look at the picture. Use prompts to ask and answer questions, following the example:
A: Is there a vase on the coffee table? A: Are there pillows on the sofa?
B: No there isn’t. B: Yes, there are.
The teacher puts different objects in a bag. The students take turns in going to the teacher’s desk and pick
things from the bag. They have to say what there is / there are in it.

We use this / these to talk about people, things, animals which are near us.
THAT / THOSE
That is a cat. (desen 1 pisica+mana departe) Those are cats. (desen 2 pisici+mana departe)
That is a bike. (desen 1 bicicleta+mana departe) Those are bikes. (desen 2 biciclete+mana departe)
We use that / those to talk about people, things, animals which are far away from us.

1. Look at the picture below, then ask and answer, as in the example:
Student 2: It’s between the door and the wardrobe. Student 4: It’s next to the wardrobe.
2. Look at the pictures and spot 7 differences.
Example: In the first picture, the sofa is next to the fireplace. In the second picture, the sofa is in
front of the window.

Look again at the pictures above, then write where the objects in the room are. Work in teams. Each team
chooses a picture to describe. The team that finishes first is the winner! Use as many prepositions of place
as you can.
Example: There is a sofa next to the fireplace. There is a coffee table in front of the sofa.
