elcome to the latest issue of Papercraft Essentials. I’m sure
by now all of you will have your Christmas crafting well
underway – I know I have – there’s nothing I enjoy more
than a bit of cosy crafting as the autumn nights draw in.
This month your free gift is the Sending Christmas Wishes
embossing folder, stamp set and bonus paper pack – one of my
favourite gifts so far this year and the beautiful cards from our
designers will show you why. Turn to page 15 to see Simonne Clay’s
magical creations along with a special step-by-step guide to her
‘Season’s greetings’ card. For quick Christmas makes, check out Fiona
Robertson’s designs (page 84), and if you need a little inspiration for p18
your paper pack head to page 74 to see Nicky Gilburt’s fabulous cards.
If you’re looking for contemporary Christmas designs while learning a
new technique, Marie Jones’s watercolour lifting and heat embossing
Masterclass (page 28) is one for you. Meanwhile birthday, Christmas
and all-occasion cards make up our cut-out-and-keep section from page
41. This issue we have collections from Wild Rose Studio, DigiStamp
Boutique, Aldridge Crafts and Sizzix. p30
Our Beginner’s Guide on page 67 is perfect for if you’re taking a
quick break from Christmas crafting and need some all-occasion ideas.
Kim Dellow’s step-by-step guide to inking on vellum will make you an
expert in no time! Speaking of experts, Sara Davies shares the latest
from Crafter’s Companion in her Problem Solved on page 80.
In case you missed it, our Papercraft Magazines Designer of the Year
competition launched last month – turn to page 36 to find out how you
can enter and see what some of last year’s winners have been up to p47
since the competition ended.
Don’t forget to send your cards and letters to me either in the post,
by email or on Facebook. I’ve had so much fun admiring all of the
designs with our cute Christmas gnomes from last month – be sure to p75

perfect for the cheeky monkey or newborn in your
life. The trio of sets has six to 12 dies ranging from an
adorable teddy bear and pram in the Baby’s First Pram

Our favourite is the Cheeky Monkey set which has cool

Bride to be
I haven’t done much crafting
lately and recently I found
a lot of odds and ends so
decided to see what I could
come up with, and this is
the end result. A beautiful

Crafting challenge
I would just like to welcome you to
the magazine and say a BIG THANK
YOU for issue 148. I absolutely love
my sunflower stamp set and papers
and I just knew they were the
perfect stamps for my local hospice.
I have challenged myself to make
50 cards for its Summer Fair next
June to help raise much-needed
funds. The papers that came with
my issue are also an amazing addition and will help get
even more out of my stamps.
I have started and have made six so far, doing a
couple of each design. I have enclosed one of my cards
– I hope you like what I’ve done and will send you an
updated picture of all my cards once I have finished and
hope they raise some money in the process.
