Mass Media

Summary of Grandparent’s interviews:-

 Q1.How has the form of mass media changed?


Answer - (Past) The grandparents listed the forms of
mass media to be mainly newspapers, magazines, radio
and postal services.
(Present) They listed the forms to be Internet, computers,
laptop mobiles, etc. The previous ones are limited and
current ones are unlimited.

 Q2.How has the prize of information from mass media


changed?
Answer - (Past) Our interviewees agreed that in the past
news was slow and unexciting unlike today.
(Present) However, they also stated that today due to
multiple news sources, the news has become unreliable
and some forms of mass media are also used to spread
hate and intolerance.

 Q3.How has the time spent on mass media changed?


Answer - (Past) All our interviewees agreed that physical
interaction was given more time than mass media during
their time.
(Present) The situation is opposite in the present and
impacts the mental and physical health of people
especially children. However, one interviewee stated that
by innovative projects like coding classes this problem
could be solved.
 Q4.Which forms and brands of mass media were most
positive through the years?
Answer - (Past) Our interviewees had different answers
for the most positive form of mass media with the four
different answers being newspapers, magazines,
television and radio. They enjoyed each form differently.
With the newspaper being for crosswords and news,
magazine for stories and puzzles, television for news and
entertainment and radio for news music, entertainment
and to register for quiz contests.
(Present) But today there are different brand of mobiles,
television, 1000 of different channels are available on
television, etc.

 Q5.How has the internet changed the mass media


landscape?
Answer - (Past) Our interviewees said that the Internet
has drastically changed mass media especially in terms
of speed of information. Also an interviewee said that in
her time for contacting long distance relatives, a lot of
time and money was required.
(Present) Today where video and audio calls and emails
and chats are prevalent.

Conclusion
 At all, the change that occurred to mass media was highly
beneficial, with a few flaws like excessive time being
spent on electronic devices and hate spread through
mass media platforms. However, this could be solved by
spending more time with your family and friends, mass
media being used for educational purposes more and
most importantly fake news being identified and removed
quickly.
