An official Yale University program, participants in the Yale Young Global Scholars Program for
Outstanding High School Students can expect an amazing summer experience studying in
beautiful campus lecture halls and classrooms, living in Yale’s historic residential colleges, eating
in award-winning dining halls, meeting a talented community of fellow students, engaging with
world-renowned professors, and interacting with extraordinary visiting practitioners.
The Yale Young Global Scholars Program is a very selective leadership-development program for
high school students from around the world. The program is designed to bring together students
with the talent, drive, energy, and ideas to make meaningful impacts as young leaders, even before
they begin university studies.
Living on the Yale campus for two weeks during the summer, students in the program:
While building a strong network of like-minded young people, participants assemble a leadership
toolkit that they take back with them to their home communities at the conclusion of the program.
Have fun and enjoy personal enrichment classes with academically-motivated students from
around the world in Duke University’s Summer Academy for High School Students. Students
currently in grades 9 - 12 are eligible to apply.
Summer Academy for High School Students, a three-week, non-credit-bearing program offered
by Duke University, attracts students who represent the next generation of global citizens from
around the world. Enroll in this elite program and immerse yourself in an international experience
designed to provide an academic and residential environment through which you will gain a global
perspective on multiple areas of interest for young leaders.
With over 50,000 students, the University of Texas at Austin is the perfect example of the motto,
“Everything is bigger in Texas.” Ranked 16th among public universities in the United States, UT
Austin is one of the top research institutions in the world. Famous alumni include First Lady Laura
Bush, actor Matthew McConaughey, and Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly. This ‘Public Ivy,’
located in the heart of Austin, is the perfect setting for a pre-college program.
At Summer Discovery UT Austin, we help you prepare for your transition from high school to
college. Our pre-college program combines academics, athletics, and activities to give high school
students a taste of college life.

"HOBY’s Advanced Leadership Academy (ALA) is a program for any U.S. or international high
school junior or senior (ages 16-18 at the time of the program and have completed their junior or
senior year of high school). Students are not required to have participated in other HOBY
programming to be eligible to participate in the ALA.
Through the HOBY Advanced Leadership Academy, participants: Understand and develop
themselves along the seven dimensions of the Social Change Model of Leadership (SCM) and how
they work together to accomplish the eighth dimension, change; Use Gallup’s Clifton
StrengthsFinder ™ assessment to identify and understand their own strengths and capabilities;
Create a project action plan to lead and implement a service project or social enterprise in their
home communities within one year following the ALA; Meet new people and establish an ongoing
network of peers, other leaders and social entrepreneurs; and Earn college credit from George Mason
University.
Since its inception in 2005, the Bank of America Student Leaders Program has recognized more
than 2,200 exemplary high school juniors and seniors who have a passion for improving their
communities. The program helps students gain a greater understanding of how nonprofits create
impact in the community and helps develop them as the next generation of community leaders
through two components:
- A summer eight-week paid internship with a nonprofit organization selected by the bank.
This internship is designed to provide opportunities for the students to develop and apply
leadership skills through hands-on work experience, while raising their awareness of
community issues addressed by their Host Organization.

USC Summer Programs’ courses are taught by USC faculty and experienced professionals of the
USC academic community. Summer Programs’ faculty create an engaging academic experience
by combining lectures, hands-on workshops and labs, guest speakers, and academic field trips to
locations throughout Los Angeles. Each course is designed to be more interactive, engaging, and
challenging than accelerated high school classes or the broad introductory courses offered by other
summer pre-collegiate programs.
Our unique program offers a transformative experience for talented high school students looking
to immerse themselves in the performing arts. This summer, teens from all over the world will
study, train, rehearse, perform and live on AMDA’s New York City and Los Angeles campuses.
The rigorous curriculum is taught by a world-class faculty of artists who offer students
professional-level training in acting, singing and dance.
AMDA's Summer Conservatory empowers young artists to choose their own path within our three
performing arts disciplines. Residential and commuter programs in NYC and LA are open to all
talented high school students completing grades 8-12.
Students from a variety of backgrounds and countries spend four weeks on SMFA's campus, utilizing
the studios, working with expert faculty and graduate mentors, building their portfolios, exploring the
Museum of Fine Arts and Boston's cultural and historic landmarks. Graduates of the program can earn
up to four college credits towards undergraduate study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts
Eligibility:
The program is designed for students who have completed the eleventh grade in a Florida public
or private high school. A few exceptionally qualified and mature tenth graders have been selected
in past years, though this is quite rare.
The School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania offers a unique opportunity for a
selective group of highly motivated and talented high school students to experience rigorous and
challenging college-level coursework. The Academy’s intensive, three-week programs combine
sophisticated theory with hands-on practical experience in cutting edge technologies such as
biotechnology, computer graphics, computer science, nanotechnology, robotics, or engineering
complex networks.
Key programmatic components of the Girls Who Code Immersion Program include:
Skills – Seven weeks of intensive instruction in computer science, robotics, algorithms, web
design, and mobile development
Exposure – Speakers, demos, workshops, and presentations from female engineers and
entrepreneurs; field trips to technology companies, startups, academic institutions and more
Mentorship – Top female executives, entrepreneurs and engineers provide career and
academic mentorship
Classes at the program are taught by reporters and editors from The New York Times, The
Washington Post, The New Yorker, The Daily Beast, Time, National Journal, New York
Magazine, The New Republic, ESPN the Magazine, CNN and NPR, among other media outlets.
Students meet with numerous Princeton professors, as well as Princeton’s president and
admissions officers. They report an investigative story, cover a professional sports event,
produce a TV segment, and publish their own newspaper. And they receive guidance on the
college admissions process not only during the 10 days of the program, but also during the fall of
their senior year of high school.
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following qualifications:
- Must currently be juniors in high school.
- Must live in the United States.
- Must have at least an unweighted 3.5 grade point average (out of 4.0).
- Must have an interest in journalism.
- Must have combined income of their custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) plus child support
payments, if any, must not exceed $45,000.
