STEP Standard 7 – Reflecting on Instruction to Improve Student Progress Improved Practice Based on the
Unit of Study
Based on the experience of developing and delivering your instructional unit, list three short-term goals to
improve specific areas of your teaching practice based on the unit of instruction and describe your plan to
reach each short-term goal.
Plan to Reach the Goal (i.e., professional

a veteran teacher, etc.)
1. Enhance my teaching knowledge by Attending regular scheduled BLT monthly meetings &
attending additional PDs pertaining to any additional professional development (PD)

school years that pertain to my paraprofessional
position for the Edmonds School District for the past 4
years. I will continue to attend all paraprofessional PDs
and any other courses that may be beneficial for my
teaching practice. It will allow me more opportunity for
exposure to various topics and trainings that can better
serve me in the future as I transition from a
paraprofessional position to a full-time teacher.
2. Develop an effective & meaningful The most challenging parts of being fully-remote are

the IEP team and classroom team. These groups will
better equip me in gaining general teaching, collect
teaching resources, planning & collaboration skillset,

strategies as I see fits best for my group of students
as a class, and as individuals. I am able to evaluate
what is working and what needs to be
modified/omitted. This will also allow me to take note
of what I can improve on in the form of self-
assessments; Student teaching in the classroom that I
work in as a paraprofessional has allowed more
opportunities for feedback from my mentor teacher,
parental feedback on my student teaching, and any
point of views that can enhance my teaching practice
and learning targets/lessons

Long-Term Goals: Teachers who are dedicated to their profession and to improving the lives of students
will continually look for ways to grow and learn. The best way to ensure that learning is prioritized is to
create a long-term goal. Create one long term goal that is specific and measurable. Make sure to discuss
the following:

that they can find support from when trying a new
activity at school. I will start offer extended support
for students who are interested in other school
clubs by going to those Zoom meetings with or in
substitute of the student in order to create Social
Stories for our IS students; with this goal, I am
hoping that this will not only boost the student’s
confidence in pursuing their interests, but as well
as open more doors and opportunities for our
students to integrate into school clubs, events, and
future social activities (ie. Spirit Week, fund raisers,
study sessions, school competitions, etc).

staff to explore. Staff members attend Professional
Development courses, Safe Schools Training, First
