INTRODUCTION
● Amaravati, the new capital city of the State of Andhra Pradesh, is a
greenfield city being developed on 217.23 sq. km area of land along the
banks of river Krishna with a population of 3.5 million by 2050.
● The APCRDA has initiated the development of a State-of-the-Art MICE
HUB comprising a Mega International Convention Centre along with
other allied facilities including Exhibition Centre, Hotels,
Multi-entertainment, Retail and Commercial.
AIM
● Designing the MICE HUB as it should enrich the both cultural and
economic prospects of the city.
● Designing the convention Centre to international standards so that it
can attract the people from other countries to increase the economic
growth of the city.
● Creating viewpoints at the convention centre to get the great view of
Krishna river.
● Designing a world class meeting place, public gathering place.
OBJECTIVE
● To generate a vocabulary and design temperament of the project for
architectural expression that will reflect the urban character of that
place.
● To promote a platform for interaction between various sections of
society. This would lead to better understanding of each other’s trade
and spread awareness among the people that is the need of the hour.
● To study the urban context of the site and surrounding and mark
distinctions wherever required.
● The main objective of designing a convention centre is to help
organizations hire on a temporary basis a few common facilities like
auditoriums, seminar halls, lecture rooms, convention halls,
commercial/retail space etc., simultaneously in the same premise.
SCOPE
● It’ll create possibilities of origin of a business centre at Amaravati.
Comprehensive socio-cultural and business activities to people.
● It’ll act as a riverfront development structure
● The MICE HUB will create the possibilities of investment of multinational
Companies in Amaravati.
THRUST AREA
● Understanding the relationship between open spaces and the built form.
● Understanding the massing elements and international style of
architecture.
● Understanding Sustainable architecture and planning.
LIMITATIONS
Phase-1 of the Core MICE Hub Facility shall comprise:
(a) Mega International Convention Centre: Convention Centre with Main
Hall with ceiling of minimum 15 feet high; to accommodate minimum 6000
Pax in theatre-style seating
(i) Foyer area (including reception area, registration area, lounge area,
aggregation area, break area etc.) commensurate to convention centre
capacity.
(ii) Smaller Meeting halls of different sizes: 30 Pax to 400 Pax or more (number
and capacity optional)
(iii) Board Rooms of different sizes – 10 Pax to 30 Pax (number and capacity
optional)
(iv) VIP Lounges and VVIP Lounges of different sizes (number and capacity
optional)
(v) Ballroom and Banquet Halls (with pre-reception area) of adequate
sizes (number and capacity optional).
(vi) Adequate space for minimum 50 stalls of minimum size of 3m x3m in high
footfall area. This could be a temporary or permanent facility.
(vii) Any other complementary facility as deemed fit to the requirement of
MICE industry.
(b) Exhibition Halls (Multipurpose, Air conditioned) with minimum of 9000
sqm net carpet area for exhibition (including circulation) on aggregate
basis.
(c) Open paved facility of minimum 5000 sqm carpet area on aggregate
basis for holding exhibitions and events in open space.
(d) A Hotel of 5 Star or above category with a minimum 250 keys.

● These centres combine shopping and recreation with entertainment to
form an overall experience.
● A Permanent Market that promotes the craft , food and cultural activities
of a place.
● The concept of urban haat is to provide space for artisan and craftsmen
of india exhibit and sell their handicrafts, therefore cutting the middle
agencies.
● Urban Entertainment Centre(UEC)can be defined as family-oriented
entertainment destinations that allows people of different age groups
and regions to come together and provides them recreational facilities.
● Retail needs entertainment to draw people in and entertainment
needs retail to support the overall operation.
● The goal of an urban entertainment centre is to create tax revenue,or to
sell food,merchandise,for the visitor to override concepts to have fun.
