Title - A Study on Smart Irrigation System Using IoT for Surveillance of Crop-Field

Author - Ashwini B V

Summary - In India, agriculture plays an important role for development in food production.
In our country, agriculture depends on the monsoons which are not sufficient source of water.
So the irrigation is used in agriculture field. Internet of Things (IoT) is a milestone in the
evolution of technology. IOT plays an important role in many fields, one of that is
Agriculture by which it can feed billions of people on Earth in future. The objective of this
paper is aiming to overcome this challenge, the whole system is micro control based and can
be operated from remote location through wireless transmission so there is no need to
concern about irrigation timing as per crop or soil condition. Sensor is used to take sensor
reading of soil like soil moisture, temperature, air moisture and decision making is controlled
by user (farmer) by using microcontroller. The data received from sensors are sent to server
database using wireless transmission. The irrigation will be automated when the moisture and
temperature of the field is reduced. The farmer is notified with the information regarding
field condition through mobile periodically. This system will be more useful in areas where
there is scarcity of water and will be worth efficient with satisfying its requirements.

Summary
The concept of this project is to allow the owners of fields to control and observe the growth
of their plants in their farms. This is achieved by using a smart platform of IoT and solenoid
valves to control the flow of water based on the moisture of the soil and gives real time
surveillance to the owners who stay far away from the farms.

This project also allows surveillance on the personnel and their crops so as to not incur
losses. It is easy to use for anyone with a Smart phone and doesn’t require maintenance once
set up.

Title - AUTOMATION OF IRRIGATION SYSTEM USING IoT

Author - Dhanashri P. Joshi
Summary - In India, Agriculture is a source of income for majority people and has a large
impact on the economy of the country. Suitable conditions and suitable moisture in soil or
land can play a major role for agricultural production. Mostly traditional method is used for
irrigation. Such supply of water may leave varied moisture levels in filed. The management
of the water system can be enhanced utilizing automated watering system. This paper
proposes a smart irrigation system which will reduce manual labour and optimizing water
usage. Also system will send live video to check whether his irrigation system is working as
per requirement or not. For formulating the setup, Arduino kit can be used with moisture and
camera sensor with Wi-Fi module. Our experimental setup will connected with cloud
framework and data collection is done. Then data is analysed by system and suitable
recommendations will be given to user.

Title - Arduino Based Smart Irrigation System Using IoT
Author- R.Nandhini, S.Poovizhi, Priyanka Jose, R.Ranjitha, Dr.S.Anila

Summary-
An automated irrigation system for efficient water management and intruder detection system
has been proposed. Soil Parameters like soil moisture, pH, Humidity are measured and the
pressure sensor and the sensed values are displayed in LCD. The intruder detection system is
done with the help of PIR sensor where the birds are repelled from entering into the field. The
GSM module has been used to establish a communication link between the farmer and
the field. The current field status will be intimated to the farmer through SMS and also
updated in the webpage. The farmer can access the server about the field condition anytime,
anywhere thereby reducing the man power and time.

Title - A Smart Irrigation System Using IOT
Author-S Nalini Durga, M Ramakrishna
Summary - Agriculture remains the sector which contributes the highest to India’s GDP. But,
when considering technology that is deployed in this field, we find that the development is not
tremendous. Now a day’s there is huge enhancement in technologies which have a significant
impact on various fields like agriculture, healthcare etc. Agriculture is the primary occupation
in our country. India’s major income source is depending on agriculture therefore the
development of agriculture is important. In today also most of the irrigation system are
operated manually. The available traditional techniques are like drip irrigation, sprinkler
irrigation etc. These techniques are need to be combined with IoT so that we can make use of
water vary efficiently. IoT helps to access information and make major decision-making
process by getting different values from sensors like soil moisture, water level sensors, water
quality etc. This paper focuses primarily on reducing the wastage of water and minimizing the
manual labour on field for irrigation so that you can saving time, cash and power of the
farmer.

Title - Smart Irrigation System
Author - S. Darshna, T.Sangavi, Sheena Mohan, A.Soundharya4, Sukanya Desikan
Summary
With the water requirements in irrigation being large, there is a need for a smart irrigation
system that can save about 80% of the water. This prototype aims at saving time and avoiding
problems like constant vigilance. It also helps in water conservation by automatically
providing water to the plants/gardens depending on their water requirements. It can also prove
to be efficient in Agricultural fields, Lawns & Parks. As technology is advancing, there is
always a chance of reducing risks and making work simpler. Embedded and micro controller
systems provide solutions for many problems. This application precisely controls water
system for gardens by using a sensor micro controller system. It is achieved by installing
sensors in the field to monitor the soil temperature and soil moisture which transmits the data
to the microcontroller for estimation of water demands of plants.

Title - Sensor Based Automatic Irrigation System and Soil pH Detection using Image
Processing.
Author - Sanjay Kumawat1, Mayur Bhamare2, Apurva Nagare3, Ashwini Kapadnis4
Summary - India’s population is reached beyond 1.2 billion and the population rate is
increasing day by day then after 2530 years there will be serious problem of food, so the
development of agriculture is necessary. Today, the farmers are suffering from the lack of
rains and scarcity of water. The main objective of this paper is to provide an automatic
irrigation system thereby saving time, money & power of the farmer. The traditional farm-
land irrigation techniques require manual intervention. With the automated technology of
irrigation, the human intervention can be minimized. There will be moisture sensors installed
on the field. Whenever there is a change in water content of soil these sensors sense the
change gives an interrupt signal to the micro-controller. Soil is recognized as one of the most
valuable natural resource whose soil pH property used to describe the degree of acidity or
basicity which affect nutrient availability and ultimately plant growth. For capturing the
images, the phone camera is used and after processing the captured image the PH value of the
soil is determined and accordingly crops or plants are suggested that can be grown in that
field. Due to detection of soil pH value the chances of crops destruction becomes less.

Title - Development of an Artificial Neural Network based Smart Irrigation System using IoT

Author - Arindrajit Pal, Soumyajit Das

Summary - The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology where different types of things are
allowed to communicate each other through Internet. The advantage of this technology is to
make things web enable and it can be accessed through anywhere in the world. Different
types of things like home appliances, vehicles, electrical devices, electronic gadgets etc. can
be controlled by IoT. In India, several smart cities are constructed in different states. IoT is
the most essential technology to build these cities. To make a smart India, we should also
concern about the rural area. The ubiquitous sensing technologies have the ability to develop
the system to control thing of the country areas. In this paper, we propose an Artificial Neural
network (ANN) based Smart Irrigation System on IoT platform integrated with cloud
processing. The IoT platform has several sensors for measuring soil moisture, temperature,
humidity and rain water measure in the Ploughing field. The smart ANN controller has three
main components: 1) sensor nodes, 2) server and 3) the cloud with implanted intelligence on
each component for different tasks. This IoT platform is integrated with cloud processing for
training the ANN. The ANN-based irrigation system estimates the soil moisture in the field
and controls the flow of water from the water pump. This smart irrigation system consumes
less energy and reduces the work load of the farmer in respect of manual system.
