Table 1. Internal and external factors that impact the employment relationship

# Type of Factor Description. Recommendation (R).

factor
1 External Availability of the HP is in a beautiful nature area that from economical point
workforce in the labor of view is not so much developed. It is in country-side area.
market. Location. Being isolated and far from the villages people working for
HP need daily transportation from home to work and back.
Many candidates reject the job offer because of the work
distance reason. They expect work-life balance and are not
happy with daily spending 2 or 3 hours on the way to work
and back. It is a challenge to identify candidates with great
customer service skills, that know at least a bit of English and
that are willing to daily commute.

R: Assessing the options to make recruitment partnerships

with state authorities (unemployment agency, town halls
etc)
2 External Competition. There is another similar farm park in the area, at 2 hours
distance. They represent competition for both customers
and prospective employees. HP employees are expected not
to work for the competition in the same time.

R: company should perform regular competition check-ups

in order to stay updated with their practices and
build/maintain competitive advantage

3 Internal Management style. Managers are expected to be approachable, to show

respect, to encourage open and honest communication and
to provide supportive and caring responses to questions.

A management style that is based on blame-shifting and

avoiding solving important/sensitive situations until a crisis
occurs leads to burnout and ultimately resignation, as most
of the time the employees would disappear rather than
confront the problem.

R: Assessing the current the management styles and

continuously developing managers is essential in order to
retain employees and ensure business stability and
continuity.
4 Internal Employee engagement. Engaged employees know their role contribution within the
company and take pride in the job well done.
In order to have engaged employees it is essential for the
employer to build trust.

R: The employer builds trust by: keeping employees

informed and giving feedback about the quality of each
employee’s contribution, company’s performance; by
offering rewards and advancement for excellent work; by
sharing with the staff clear and consistent expectations
when managing change; by ethical behaviour / fair
treatment of both customers and employees
