CHAPTER TWO
STUDENTS EXPERIENCE
2.0 Introduction
The student’s involvement during the field work which includes the areas as follows. When
internship was started, activities engaged in, level of supervision during training, level of team
work on the organization and then finally the level of exposure.
Orientation; this was the first activity that I was engaged in during the internship training and it
was on the first day of the internship.
Review of lessons learnt; Here we were introduced on how to handle clients and the trainer
explained to us the importance of being friendly with clients..
We also learnt about bridal styling and new method of plinting. We also learnt on analyzing
clients skin, smartness and able to work for long hours and many others including maintenance
of hygiene throughout the work station.
4
2.3 Level Of Supervision While At Training
The supervision during the internship program Linda’s Unisex beauty Salon was fair and I liked
it because like a friendly interaction.
CHAPTER THREE
3.0 INTRODUCTION
This chapter covers the level of accomplishment of duties and responsibilities, new knowledge
and skills gained benefits of field attachment, challenges faced during field work training.
5
3.1 Level Of Accomplishment Of Duties And Responsibilities
Since we were good and quick in monitoring, through the effective coordination between the
trainers and the trainees and frequent discussions and practice we had with other interns after the
training, we were able to acquire more knowledge and skills about new plinting method
Communication skills; we were able to improve on our communication skills such as body
language, conversation skills with the clients and effective speaking through presentation.
Management skills; Students were engaged in how to manage the work in the organization
departments that were assigned to them.
We were flexible and willing to work around them. A team player in the salon. I was able to
Show my fellow hair stylists and cosmetologists that i was always easy to work with and ready
to offer a helping hand.
I was able to maintain good stamina And the better overall shape at the work place and
enthusiastically handle whatever the day throws at me in the hair salon!
Time management;
The internees were required to keep time during working hours as recommended. For example
we were told to reach at the working place before 9am and we managed to follow that time by
reaching at 8:30.
6
Knowledge about new methods of plinting. This guides the internee to perform his or her
diligently.
Help to build capacity since field practice transforms the classroom lessons into reality.
Time management; Enables the interns adapt to office period allocation for better services.
Most students were visited once including I but a student has to be visited at least 3 times by the
academic supervisor. This is actually the weakness in the side of the University.
Lack of identification by other staff from other stations due to lack of university IDs.
No meals for the interns in the organization. This led to personal stress.
Inadequate power; Power was not sufficient enough to aid the internship training.
Limited time that made it impossible to continue with further training for detailed understanding
of certain things like computerized accounting
Inadequate facilities during the training, the organization had quality tools to carry out its
activities hence affected certain tasks like plinting with other new styles
7
CHAPTER FOUR
4.0 INTRODUCTION
It discusses all the personal assessments, recommendations and conclusion. In this report, the last
is appendices as source of material that contributed in compiling my report.
The organization should act as referee to the students where the particular student applies for
any job.
The organization should provide certificate after the internship training to show that he or she
has attended the training.
I strongly recommend that; The different departments and faculties in the university should look
for internship places for the students because some of the students panic and cannot settle or
concentrate because they have failed to get companies to work with.. Or by establishing
8
partnership with organization so that they can secure internship placements for students. It
should be mandatory for organizations/companies to offer industrial training/internship to
students so as to build on human resource capacity.
There should be continuous field attachment to students at least once or twice before completion
of the training.
9
CONCLUSION
Finally , the training has come to an end and It has been indeed an opportunity moment for the
interns to have time to be in the field and taking a crucial part in the daily activities of the
organization. The interns took part in mostly, if not all of the activities something that helped to
increase on students’ knowledge and skills in relation to the field of study. This report is a
reflection of what we theoretically learnt from the university but in practical wise activities. The
students were therefore able to acquire a variety of skills mostly in new method of plinting. To
me the internship was fun, and therefore I would Linda’s Unisex Beauty Salon to continue giving
Students Avenue to do their industrial training from their organization.
