Wiring Instruction
1. Turn main power off, short circuit the safety circuits: ROMS, UDFS, CARS, HEAT, CS, DS, ULS, DLS, USD,
DSD, HUS, HDS, SHUS & SHDS. For explanation of these circuits, please refer to the chapter on CPU Board.
2. Switch to “Inspection”.
3. Ensure that the encoder is securely fixed on the speed governor. Also check that the encoder cables are
connected to the CPU Board’s Encoder input. Screen cables should be used.
4. Turn power on, switch Manual Up/ Manual Down Switch to “Manual Up” or Manual Down” to move the cabin.
Be extremely cautious as the safeties are shorted. Observe the direction of movement of the cabin, it should
agree with Manual Up/ Manual Down’s switching position. If traveling direction of the cabin is wrong, turn
power off, reverse connection of any two motor cables and repeat the process.
5. Manually move lift up and down and note the digital indicator display on the CPU Board. The digital reading
should increment when the lift travels up and decrement when the lift travels down. If the digital display is
reverse, reverse the connection of phase A and phase B signal of the encoder and repeat the process.
6. If the encoder’s A & B phases are reversed, lift will stop after travel a short distance. Protection function for
reverse traveling direction is activated.
7. At this point, inspection speed test is completed. Test the Inspection Operation and Fine Tune Up and Fine
Tune Down function on the car top.
8. Check all safety circuits and switches in the hoistway, viz. machine room safety circuit, motor thermal sensor,
cabin safety circuit, hoistway safety circuit, car door and landing door safety circuit, top and bottom final limit
switches, up and down deceleration switches, leveling photoelectric switch and other emergency stop switches
etc. Also remove all short circuits from the safety circuits carried out in step 1 above.
9. Connect Car Control Board, Car Call Expansion Board, Car Display Board, Car-Top Controller, car lighting,
fans, alarms, arrival gong and weighing device switch.
10. Connect all Landing Operating Panels and ensure that the settings on LOPs correspond with the floor levels at
which they are installed.

Automatic Floor Level Search (ALV)

1. Ensure that all safety circuits, shaft switches and all related devices are properly installed.
2. From the Main CPU Board or the EC Panel, select “ALV”mode. Switch the Automatic/ Inspection Switch on
Car Top and the Main CPU Board to “Automatic”.
3. Ensure that all safety circuits are connected and function correctly, all car doors and landing doors are properly
closed.
4. Ensure speed settings of the inverter unit are set correctly.
5. Move lift to above the bottom limit switch.
6. Press ENT button on the EC Panel continuously, the six decimal point on the seven-segment digital display on
the Main CPU Board will be blinking. The lighted decimal points will be extinguished one by one. about 3
seconds after all lighted decimal points are extinguished, the lift starts to move. when the lift commence to
move, the ENT button may be released, the operation continues.
7. The lift moves in the down direction and stop when it reaches the bottom limit. After a short pause, it reverses
the direction and travels in the up direction at inspection speed. Along the way it detects and records all leveling
and deceleration positions automatically.
8. It continues the travel until the top limit is reached. After a short pause, it reverses the direction and travels
downwards. It stops when the centre point of the leveling vane for the top floor is detected.
Adjustment of Floor Leveling Position
1. Turn the Auto/ Inspection Switch to “Inspection” and move the lift into the leveling zone of the intended floor.
2. Press and hold the switch on the car top to “Fine Adjustment Up” or “Fine Adjustment Down” for about 6
Seconds. The lift will move out of the leveling zone automatically. It will re-enter the leveling zone again and
stop at the mid-point of the leveling vane. The arrival gong sound once to notify that correct leveling point is
found. (If the arrival gong does not sound, please repeat the process.) Please check the car platform is in line
with the lobby level. Otherwise, adjust the leveling vane and repeat the process.
3. Repeat the process until leveling point for all floors are adjusted.

Test Mode (TST)

After automatic floor level search (ALV) is completed, select “TST” mode from switch Auto/ Inspection Switch to
“Auto”. Use “+” or “–“ button on the EC Panel to select the desired destination floor. Press “ENT” to activate the
call. The lift can be tested at high speed. Deceleration distance, brake holding and brake release timing adjusted.
Test the lift until good ride comfort, leveling accuracy and correct operation and optimum performance on all
aspects are achieved. The system can then be set “RUN” mode for normal operation.

Under test mode, the door does not open when it stops at the destination. However, the door can be opened by
pressing the Door Open button in the lift car.

Please exercise the lift under Test Mode for short floor travels and long floor travels numerous time. The system
will automatically measure, adjust and fine tune the leveling points and deceleration distances. It memorises the
speed curves for monitoring purpose every time when the lift is in operation subsequently.

This sate of the art intelligent system measures, adjusts, fine tunes and monitors the traveling speed curves, leveling
points, deceleration distances and other parameters all the time. Hence it can maintain superb ride comfort, good
leveling accuracy and high performance for a long time without the need for further adjustment or attention.

Normal Operation - RUN Mode

Upon completion of adjustment and testing, switch the Auto/ Inspection switch to “Auto” and select the “RUN”
mode. The lift is then ready to welcome the passengers. It starts to response to the car calls and landing calls.
Dispatch the car to serve the calls in accordance with its built-in Dispatch Control Algorithm and provide the
functions and performance as required.

When new or proprietary features or functions are added, new CPU software is required. This is done by
re-programing the EEPROM Winbond W27C512. After the new EEPROM is plugged onto the CPU board,
the new software will only take effect after switching the CPU Board to “PAR” mode and then back to
“RUN” mode.

To set up the parameter, first set to Parameter Mode, “PAR” by toggling the Mode Selection Switch to “Adj” until
“PAR” LED is lit and then switch Mode Selection Switch back to “Set”.
Please refer to the table below for the explanation of all the parameters.

The parameter codes and their settings are shown on the seven-segment digital display found on the Main CPU
Board. The parameter code are shown at the 2-digit seven segment display to the left of the Up/ Down Arrow. The
settings are shown on the 4-digit seven-segment display to the right of the Up/ Down Arrow. The digits from the left
to the right are setting 4, 3, 2 & 1 respectively. They also serve as Thousands Digit, Hundreds Digit, Tens Digit
and Ones Digit respectively as appropriate.

The decimal points of the 2-digit display and 4-digit display when
lit are served as cursor. The cursor may be moved left or right by
pressing “L” or “R” key on the MF pendent.

When the cursor is at the parameter code field, i.e. the 2-digit display,
the required parameter may be selected by pressing the “+” or “-“ key on
the EC Panel.

When the cursor is at the setting field, i.e. the 4-digit display, the
selected setting may be changed by pressing the “+” or “-“ key.

Deceleration distance for low speed (cm)

The Automatic Floor Level Search (ALV) automatically search and memorize
level position of each floor. These leveling positions can be viewed here. The
positions are represented by the number of pulses in hexadecimal numbers.
The distance in centimeter is measured from the bottom limit to the low speed
down deceleration distance. The value can also be pre-set by using the EC
“ ” ““
panel. Use + and - key to change the distance.

The distance measured is based on the following conditions:

Radius of the speed governor: 240 mm;
Encoder resolution: 600 pulse per revolution.

Should the radius of the speed governor, the encoder resolution or output
frequency from the inverter differs from the standard, the reading will be
changed proportionately.

Deceleration distance for medium speed

Deceleration distance for high speed
Same as parameter 04 above, but the distance is for high speed.
Secondary brake magnetic contactor activation time
Delay time, setting in 0.5 sec increment.
When the lift is activating, brake control coil is energized to release the
brake. After a certain delay time, secondary magnetic contactor is activated
to switch the brake coil to a lower voltage to maintain the opening of the
brake. This is to prolong the life span of the brake coil.

Lift-start zero speed time (In 0.1 sec increment)

For systems with PG, upon elevator starting, system will send command to
inverter to operate at zero speed for a pre-set time.

Brake release delay time (In 0.1 sec increment)

A safety measure to delay the release of brake when the lift starts to prevent
reverse rotation due to the moment of Inertia of the cabin. The brake is released
only after the invert has already been activated.

Delay time for mechanical brake during Inspection operation

During Inspection operation, when the Manual Up or Manual Down
button is released, control signals from the inverter are ceased in order to
stop the car immediately. However, closing the mechanical brake
immediately may the inverter to generate significant inverse current.
Pre-set delay time may reduce the inverse current. Correct setting will
protect the inverter and prolong the life span and enable smooth stopping
of lift. (In 0.1 sec increment).

Delay time for power recovery to the inverter after turning on the
lift or power outage
Delay time in seconds.
To delay supply of power to the inverter after a power outage. This is to
prevent over voltage and damage to the inverter. System will delay a pre-set
time for the inverter to discharge the current. The delay depends on the inverter
capacity, ranging between 10 to 30 seconds.

※Hold “ENT”to set the first charge waiting time when power recovery to

Pre-Inspection Run
1.6m ~ 3.0m. The setting is approximate travel distance.
This function prevents malfunction of motor brake, it
also enable the maintenance staff to get onto the car top
conveniently. Maintenance staff wants to get onto the
car top to carry out maintenance work. Call the lift, lift
arrives, enter the lift and press the Pre-Inspection Run
red button. Get out of the lift, door closes and lift
travels the distance set above at final speed. Open the
landing door and the lift is positioned at a convenient
position for the maintenance staff to get onto the car
top.

After Pre-Inspection Run, lift will only response

to calls after it is switched to “Inspection” and
then back to “Run” again. This is to prevent lift
from being called away during the Pre-Inspection Run.
The usual practice to get onto the car top is to call the lift down and then open
the landing door. This way causes the lift to have emergency stop. The motor
brake applies suddenly when the lift is still moving. This may cause the motor
brake to be jolted out of position, especially for the gearless machine which
does not have the gear box to buffer the sudden impact.
