Every individual in an organization plays their own importance in contributing


to reach their organization’s goals. One of the most important roles in an
organization is the human resource department. Human resource department is one
of the main keys for an organization to achieve its goals as the human resource
management is the one which forms the connection between the organization’s
specific objectives and its corresponding strategies for it to be achieved.
To be specific, the human resource management keeps an eye on the most
important component of a successful business, which is a productive workforce.
Human resource management is concentrated in creating a workforce that has a
high-quality performance so as this department is responsible on recruiting,
managing, and directing their employees. Also, this management is focused on
important matters such as employees’ compensation, organization development,
safety and wellness of the employees, performance management, benefits to be
received by the employees, and many more. Human resource management takes a
big part in governing employees and the whole working environment of an
organization.
Human resource management has a big role in achieving their company’s
objectives as they are responsible on managing the company’s most valuable assets
– its employees. The employees’ abilities, knowledge, and experience is an asset that
can’t ever be compared to any asset that has monetary value.

2. Identify how new technology, such as social networking, is influencing human


resource management.
New technology made a big change in the way Human Resource departments
analyze employee performance, store organization files, and contact employees. If
these technologies are being used properly, it will surely make the whole human
resource process more effective and efficient. But if not used properly, it will also
affect the whole human resource management negatively. Technological advances
nowadays are changing many aspects in human resource management. One of it is
the technological advancements in electronics and communications software have
made possible mobile technology such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), iPads,
and iPods and enhanced the Internet through developing enhanced capability for
social networking. Social networking refers to websites such as Facebook, Twitter,
and LinkedIn, and wikis and blogs that facilitate interactions between people usually
around shared interests. Another technology that helps human resource
management is a human resource information which is a computer system that is
used to acquire, store, retrieve, and distribute information related to a company‘s
human resources. An HRIS can support strategic decision making, help the company
avoid lawsuits, provide data for evaluating policies and programs, and support day-
to-day HR decisions. The next one is mobile devices, it is being used to provide
employees with anytime and anywhere access to HR applications and other work-
related information. Meanwhile, cloud computing refers to a computing system that
provides information technology infrastructure over a network in a self-service,
modifiable, and on-demand model. The last one and one of the most important uses
of Internet technology is the development of HR dashboards. An HR dashboard is a
series of indicators or metrics that managers and employees have access to on the
company intranet or human resource information system. The HR dashboard
provides access to important HR metrics for conducting workforce analytics. These
technologies help the human resource management in a way that these innovations
provides a way that will make the work of the department easier and faster.
