ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
First and foremost, we, the researchers would like to bring all the glory back to the ever-loving God Almighty for the

provision, wisdom, strength, and guidance we needed to make this proposal successful. There’s nothing too difficult for Him to do

as we put our trust in Him.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to Engr. Geffren Bernardo, our Reinforced Concrete professor, for the unending support

for us. He not only encouraged us with words, but also offered us his dedication and commitment in helping us complete this

proposed project design in a timely and efficient manner. His wisdom gave us an opportunity to understand the fundamentals of

Reinforced Concrete Design in a better manner and other knowledge in everyday life.

We would also like to thank our classmates and friends for being willing to serve on our commission and extending their

advice for improvement.

Finally, we would like to thank our families for their constant support, guidance and motivation, who helped us immensely in

completing this project.

INTRODUCTION
Concrete and reinforced concrete are used as building construction materials in every country. Reinforced concrete is a
combination of traditional cement concrete with reinforcements (steel bar). This combination is made to utilize the compressive
strength of concrete and tensile strength of steel simultaneously. Reinforced concrete, as an economic building material, is very
popular nowadays. It is widely used in many types building around the world. Along with many advantages, reinforced concrete
also poses some disadvantages also.

Concrete is strong in compression, but weak in tension, thus adding reinforcement increases the strength in tension. In
addition, the failure strain of concrete in tension is so low that the reinforcement has to hold the cracked sections together. For a
strong, ductile and durable construction the reinforcement shall have the following properties:

- High strength - High tensile strain - Good bond to the concrete

- Thermal compatibility - Durability in the concrete environment

Reinforced concrete may be the most important materials available for construction. It is used in one form or another for
almost all structures, great or small – buildings, bridges, pavements, dams, retaining walls, tunnels, drainage and irrigation facilities,
tanks, and so on.
