The principle design concept is based on linear type of planning over an area of
960 acres.
LINEAR PLANNING:
BZU is has linear type of planning, this increase distances between various
activities. Increase travel time in the climatic conditions of Multan can be very
fatiguing and taxing. The never ending long distances become monotonous at

times. The long distances are a physical and financial trouble for the students,
the staff and the visitors.
ZONING:
The campus is segregated into different zones on the basis of functions. The
main academic zone, male and female hostels, recreational zone and affiliated
institutions.
The university, at present, has five hostels for boys and four hostels for girls. In
all the hostels, the residences are provided with the necessary facilities.
Bzu is has linear type of planning, this increase distances between various
activities so vehicular access is provided to the departments. Pedestrian
walkways are also provided from one place to other.

PARKING:
The parking spaces provided in front of the departments. Parking sheds are
provided for this purpose separately for each department.
Since the campus is about 10 km away from the city, the university has 23 buses
for this purpose. Separate segregate parking is provided for the buses.

NEGATIVE ASPECT:
In some academic blocks pitched roof are used which has industrial look and
increase the surface area that is harmful in hot climate of Multan as 70% heat
entered through the roof.
CONCLUSION:
From the observed data and analysis following major conclusions could be
drawn:

Some departments are constructed with tapered roof that increase the
surface area of the roof and can absorb more heat that is critical in the hot
climate of Multan.
